Hello all,
I have a vision for a "tactical" shotgun that is not like most tactical shotguns. I want a pretty one.
My vision is a 20", 7 shot vent rib barrel, a light mount, a single point sling adapter, and a fiberoptic bead sight, all nickel plated and with wood furniture.

I have a large number of these parts for the mossberg 500, but am having trouble finding a vent rib with over 5 shots. Does this exist??

You may have to have some gun smith work done if you want a vent-rib pump-action over 5-rounds using M500 parts because of the mag-tube system. You'd need to go M590 or R870 and use a mag-tube extension, or you could pull it off more easily pull off the vent-rib with a semi-auto using a mag-tube extension, but the nickle plated thing would be a challenge.

I have no problem getting gunsmith work done, as i already know i wont be able to get this exact barrel/mag tube extension already plated.
Wgen mossberg lists sgotguns as "6 shot" are they includong the +1 in that number?

Yes, that has been my experience with Mossberg's "specs".

That's what he meant, squirrelly!! :D

If you're going to That much trouble Why not start with a REAL Shotgun? Yes, an Remington 870.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Kkg,
Since i cant get the remington any closer to what i want off the shelf i dont see it as a worthwhile investment. There is absolutely nothing wrong with 500s. They have covered millions of miles in patrol cars, gone on hundreds of raids, saved hundreds of lives, and at least one of my personal guns has 5,000+ shells through it with no issues.

May have to use a hunting length barrel and trim it down to fit your desired length and other options. As always @Velsey ( a member here) or Jon @NWcustomefirearms are the goto for any custom work, especially trick stuff like this! Also, you could have is Ceracoated instead of Nicole and get the same protection, and same looks! Not sure the cost difference, but might be worth looking into!

Meaty; And the very same thing could be said for the Remington which I personally like better. I've seen more 500s fail than 870s but it's the old Chevy, Ford or Dodge Battle that isn't likely to go away anytime soon.

It's your money so spent it anyway you want. There was a note:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: of humor in my Post because I was pretty sure what you were going to respond - and I was Right! Dig, Dig, Dig.

How about an Ithaca 37??? Those too have ridden a mile or Three in Patrol Cars and Jeeps, too.

Jon at NWcustom is my guy as the shop is a few hundred yards from my house.

Id be super down with both the winchester or the ithaca!

The idea is to end up with a gun you might see in a casinos security office in 1975. Flashy, pretty, old school cool.

I think I'd go with the Cerakote finish. Sharks TEETH on Forend and Flames along the Barrel! Either that or Bright Platinum all over! With Bobbles running EVERY WHICH WAY! Now that would be Vegas Class!
