Well then why not find a PCC in 10mm...:s0001:
I have a lot of 10mm ammo taken on a trade just sitting in my ammo locker..... WAITING patiently...:s0112:
This is my next purchase.

Got a 1911, Glock or Springfield XD?

MB = Missouri Bullet Company, MG = Montana Gold Bullets

Unfortunately MB doesn't show the 200gr TCFPs any more :-/

I'll be doing another chrono run this weekend and try the 6" barrell as well

Some recent chronographing . This was 5-6' of the muzzle. I'm pretty happy with the final sets. Feels like I could have gone further. Disclaimer - I'm not really experienced in chronographing and I'm not sure how accurate the Caldwell shooting chrono is.

Ops forgot - DISCLAIMER, WHAT WORKS IN MY GUN MIGHT NOT WORK IN YOUR'S, I TAKE NO RESPONSILLIBILITY FOR ANY INJURIES OR MISHAPS THAT MIGHT OCCUR FROM USING THE INFO BELOW :)

Did you chrono some factory loads to show how crappy they are?
As was said, the 10mm is a reloader's cartridge.

Cool that's what i have, a 5.5"? Or 6.61"? LW for the g40 and threaded. Just to help some of the slower powders burn ;)
What primers and cases are you using?

Yeah - the Fenix @1300 fps. Admittedly not a big brand name but not hugely expensive $26.50 / 50 in June last year. I chronoed some SIGs 180 gr @ 1250 last year. I think they were in the same price range.

The sad part is that when you buy reloading components the price difference between .40 and 10mm is miniscule.

I think .40 was $12 for a box of 50 last time I bought. Decent 10mm shouldn't have to cost more than $20 adjusted for Covid.

Yea, I reload. 1/7000 of $20 or whatever isn't much.

I'm using Starline and CCI large pistol. I guess the barrel length depends on how you measure. Total length looks like 6.6, 5.5ish if you subtract the chamber. Yea - how do you officially measure the bbl length...

One thing to note while shooting high end 10mm is you should be running a recoil spring over 20 Lbs or you'll be beating up your gun and your brass will be landing in the next county. Most springs are in the 16-18 lb range to work with what I call 40 and a half. (think American Eagle).

Is there an accuracy data point comparing loads?
Thanks for the extensive report.
Some of those are beyond my comfort zone.
I'm not measuring accuracy at this point. Just shooting over the chrono unsupported at a 12" steel target 20' down range. Once I get more used to chronoing I'll go for paper and shoot supported.

I'm running a #20 spring. I have to bring my passport when I go to pick up the brass :)

AFIK ALL barrel lengths are measured from the muzzle END TO THE FACE of the case supporting the case head/rim. So either the bolt or breech face/slide.
Basically when you close the action and put a dowel or cleaning rod down the barrel and measure that..
Should be universally true. Please correct me if im wrong..

Starline is great stuff. Im using fed gold medal match primers myself. I was kinda hoping there was a slim chance of using the same. Not that i would use it without starting low. (Of course)

I did some more testing this weekend. But I'm hesitant to post the results. They just look to good to be true. This means my previous results will have to be taken with a shovel of salt. I will try educate myself some more on chronographing before the next outing.

One thing that stood out though, was that OEM barrel velocities seemed to be way below aftermarket, LW. I only tested this with my G29, 3.8" bbl and one bullet weight/type. The difference for the same load was close to 100 fps. Anyone else had the sam experience?

Sry only got the one barrel..
What chrono you usuing?

I feel i HAVE to shoot groups and chrono at the same time. Shooting is to expensive lately to waste ammo and not get data. And I'm mainly shooting for accuracy not max vel. ALWAYS!
Speed means nothing if you cant hit it. I love my Labrador, i don't have to worry about shooting it. I can just focus on the groups. Damn spendy though. Took me like 5 years to finally buy a chrono to start loading.

I find with the 1911s I have that there isn't much if any difference in performance between factory and aftermarket, all seem to run very close in both speed and accuracy. Having both standard 5" and a couple of "Long Slide" hammers, I find on the low side about 80 f.p.s with factory stuff, and hand loads tend to show some where north of 120 f.p.s on up, showing that this caliber Really wants more barrel length. While the 5 inch barreled 1911s are awesome for carry, the long slide hammers really shine for woods carry. Velocities are even more impressive out of a P.C.C, mine has a 13 inch barrel and 1600+ f.p.s. is pretty standard with factory and I'm not posting what it does with my hand loads!

Dayumn.... 1600! Nice.
Yeah im glad i got the LS version. Its worth the extra packing weight to me.
Im SUPER glad i went with a 8.75" barrel for my 460 rowland. Both are on the slower end of the burn rate. Only makes sense they shine with longer barrels.. Maybe try a slightly faster powder in the short "snorter" ;)
(For my airplane nerds out there)

I'm using a Caldwell Shooting Chrono. Found one on sale for less than $100. The USB cord works but now I wish I had gotten the blue tooth version.

As for accuracy, I feel that if I can hit the 12" plate at 20 yds I'm good as far as safety is concerned. Lol - just realized I posted 20' before.

Its happens. I always figured punctuation was to test the end user not the author.
I have totally unrealistic accuracy expectations. I probably shoot at a 6" plate from about 50yrds away and expect to hit about every other one if im doing every thing correct. That's with a RDS though.
Standing.
Unrested.

Im probably also the ONLY guy you will ever meet who uniforms his primer pickets on pistol rounds.

I really need to get something like one of them manuhrin's or BRNO FK's
