I have to have integrity here and say that RX is correct on this specific point.

Just because a law creates a defined term doesn't mean it bans everything that is covered by the term.

1240 bans "assault weapons" as defined. It does not ban "semiautomatic assault rifles." 1639 imposes extra procedural hoops on "semiautomatic assault rifles.".

It's currently illegal to transfer any semi auto rifle in WA. Thats the law as it sits, just wait until the law is put down, and that's coming.
Narp.

22 caliber semi autos are not banned.
semi-autos sans evil black rifle featues are not banned.

Gotta read beyond the one section you posted. "Assault weapons" are banned. A 10/22 or old Remington 7400 do not meet the definition of assault weapon.

there is a section which specifically excludes 22s.

If you haven't seen this video yet it's worth watching. Mark smith rips the judge a new one. "What's wrong with this judge, can he not read?! Did he even try to get this right?! What is wrong with him?!!"

So what exactly are your legal credentials for you to gainsay what the Sporting Systems lawyers have said?
I don't know what Sporting Systems lawyers have said. I only know what Sporting Systems said that they said.

You don't need legal credentials to read a law and see what it does and does not pertain to. We have had extensive discussions on this board about what guns qualify or don't, and no one seems to think that it is a blanket ban on all semi auto rifles.

But you if you would like me to read the statute for you and quote it at you, I can certainly do that.

Or you could read it.

What you say is true...and thank you for doing so.

Speaking only for myself in regards to the other forum member...
It ain't so much what he says ( posts ) ....it's how he says ( posts ) it...that is irksome.

Edit to add :
Please do not take the above as a "Hunting License" to take pot shots , as it were , at another forum member.
I was simply stating my dislike for how some thoughts are posted.

To be fair to @Sporting Systems, the lawyers may have been saying that the law effectively bans all semiauto rifles, because there really isn't much of anything like the 7400 in production at this time.

Dunno.

And it's so weird, 'cause everyone was being so nice and respectful, keeping in the finest traditions of the forum.

It would be wise to not push your luck here.
I stand by what I said...
It ain't what you say....its how you say it.

Much of what you complain about...you bring onto yourself.

I understand what you are saying, but I simply do not believe that the content of what I present would be accepted in a polite manner on this forum no matter how I phrased it. And after being a target of some really rude stuff, I stopped even trying to be particularly civil. And yet, I still largely avoid the kind of insults I receive all the time.

It is simply not possible to suggest that the most closely held beliefs of the gun community are in error without inviting enormous wrath and ridicule where that behavior is allowed.

Well now....
I disagree and stand by my comments.

I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor here.

Waidaminnit... Andy is Kyle Rittenhouse is Andy...??? o_O
The only explanation is time travel: Kyle gets sent back to the past and lives out his days becoming the Andy we know.

Sorta like "what if Kyle Reese had fragged the Terminator and lived to tell about it"...

:D (Sorry, I can't grin any bigger unless I somehow grow a mouth like little Junior's...)
