If let stand, I can see the anti's expanding family gun confiscations for any violation of school rules/policy......... i.e. owning guns, speaking the truth, not being a leftist, questioning the democrat party, etc.

I fear the above happening, because you know damned well that the likes of Turd Ferguson will be pushing that agenda and the leftist partisan activists on WA state supreme court will legislate from the bench (as usual) and make it law.

Ray

What is frightening is that Seattle has actually assembled a law enforcement task force dedicated to doing this, and that they seem to think that they can create new laws, all on their own. They don't seem to feel that they need to ask the legislature to create an actual new law. They just ask a judge to approve the seizure.

And how many liberal judges are there, that would find a some way to justify doing this? I fear that it is far more judges than we realize.

I fear that gun seizures are going to become much more commonplace, and done without any proper justification.

The British like to give their opinion on America. Often ranting on gun control ( pierce organ) displaying a arrogant attitude putting down the usa.If we wanted to be like Britain we would have never left for the free world.we should not have bailed them out in ww2
Hitlers plans were to conquer America after conquering and absorbing europe and britain. If we had stayed out of WWII, we would have been fighting Hitler a bit later and all alone, with no allies, and probably mostly on American soil. It was damned close as it was.

Can you cite an authoritative source for this claim?

Not without spending more time than I have. But it was in the writings of hitler himself that only became known in the west after the war. So you should be able to find it if you are interested.

Hitler never really had plans to attack the U.S. The Germans were working on bombers and ballistic missiles that would be able to reach the U.S, but the main focus was Europe. Then probably having a cold war against the U.S, but no real plans for invasions. If even that.

I wonder how much of the problem is we treat children these days a good bit like many people treat toy dogs. We don't take their ability to either accept harm without much harm or do harm very seriously. Toy dogs get overprotected. They often aren't trained or disciplined. Many are ill tempered and actually bite people. We would never put up with that from a big dog. We respect and take the big dog seriously, even when it's a pup. We know if it grows up without proper socialization and training, it will be dangerous and have to be put down.

For young children, it's not uncommon these days to hear them threatening to kill each other. I can't recall anything like that in my family. We were shooting guns from before I can remember. Is that why?Even a small child who can shoot is obviously potentially dangerous. When you take a child seriously, you recognize his power to do harm. And you teach him to exercise restraint both with respect to doing harm or threatening it.

A day comes when you, even still a young kid, have proved yourself to be disciplined and responsible in both word and deed, and your father gives you your first gun. And that's really grand.

The big dogs often are treated with prejudice for being large and the toy dogs get a pass.

It seems a bit of conjecture to say Hitler had no plans for world domination. He conquered effectively all of Europe and if he could have pulled it off desired to have all of Russia. With his history for conquest there is no evidence to claim that given time he would have not sought world domination. In any case, it is far better to battle on foreign soil than American soil. Thankfully Americans have not seen war on American soil in a long time and it would be in the best interest of this country to keep it that way.

I didn't say he never had plans for world domination, just that at the time his main focus was Europe, and anything beyond that was never really planned.

Well - whether it was thoroughly planned or not was irrelevent. WWII could have gone sideways very quickly and very easily in many ways. We can all just be happy that it ended the way that it did. Had the US not engaged in Europe, they would have fallen completely. Had Hitler not been an idiot and engaged with Russia while simultaneously engaged in the Western front, things could have gone differently as well.

Anyway, that's all beside the point, as Americans from my perspective we've got even more pressing matters than opinions on history. We've got a large percentage of younger population willfully embracing a socialist/communist idealogy while simultaneously desiring to disarm the American people. History continues to repeat itself.

A couple more thoughts about respecting children and teaching and requiring them to learn restraint in word and deed. Presumably a good martial arts program is similar to firearms training. Part of what the kid is taught is the restraint and emotional control needed to have these skills but to use them only appropriately.

Another aspect is that kids are probably emotionally ready to start making a serious economic contribution to their families as of about eight years old, and to play a near adult economic role by, maybe, something like 12 to 14. But our society has made it almost impossible for them to play an honorable economic role.

Even in my own youth, rural kids could make a serious contribution. Kids often raised and sold calves or bummer lambs, for example. A female friend of mine described how she and all her high school friends in Willamette Valley would pick green beans for the processing industry. It was long hours, and back-breaking work. But you were with all your friends. And there was much joking around and comaraderie. And the money mattered. It allowed my friend to earn enough so that she could buy all her own clothes. And her family was poor. And as was a common pattern, my friend was then allowed to make make her own decisions about what she bought and wore. Along with the responsibilities of an adult came the greater freedom of an adult. Since she and her siblings helped with the family garden and other chores, the kids were economically supporting themselves far before they finished hs and left home. Those bean picking jobs for hs kids dried up when the laws were changed so as to make it just too difficult and inconvenient for farmers to hire kids, even in summer.

In our society, kids are an unmitigated economic liability, just nothing but an economic drain until they leave home or even finish college. They are like the yappy little lapdog, not the guard dog, herding dog, or sled dog. And they know it.

I remember putting a little harness on an 8 week old pup and attaching a small log for her to drag on the sidewalk. One trip around the block and she had learned to run ahead of me and stay on the sidewalk ignoring all distractions (so the drag doesnt tangle in bushes and bring her to a jarring halt, and then she has to wait till I untangle her.). That takes a huge amount of discipline, but she learned it in no more than half an hour. Furthermore, I not only praised the hell out of her, I exclaimed about her to every passerby, and they praised her too. It really is impressive to see a little pup do this. But the job basically trains the pup with no intervention by the human. When we got back home the pup was a totally different animal. Her pride was obvious. I could just hear her thinking, "I'm not just a useless pet. I'm a working dog. I've got responsibilities."

We are doing this to ourselves. These things don't have to happen. We mocked the Muslims for wanting to kill people for drawing a picture of Muhammad. We laughed at the Soviet Union for their lack of privacy and joked about the Nazi's 'papers please'. Yet here we are. Leftist would arrest us for drawing pictures of guns, NSA, FBI, ect secretly listening to our every word and every local agency wanting to see your ID and any other documentation when it isn't required. As long as these bully politics continue we will continue to be bullied.

I regret not pulling my daughter out of Forest Grove high school and home schooling her. She got good grades and all but that place may as well be Haigh-Ashbury in the 1960s. Getting the schools back would be a start. The courts and District attorneys would be another step. Remember, it's not against the law until 'they' say it is.

Russia deserves some credit for kicking their azzes from Stalingrad back to Germany. Where they took East Germany.

The war was effectively lost for Germany when Hitler invaded Russia. Not enough Nazis to go around. Too much Russia, too much winter, and supply lines unsustainably long. Doesn't help when the boss is a nutjob with little understanding of history or military strategy and a penchant for ignoring the counsel of the professional soldiers on his payroll. Or something like that.

Wow, Seattle really is taking gun control to a whole new level. Your kid draws a cartoon with a gun shooting someone, and you have to surrender all of your guns to the authorities?

WOW is about all that I can say.

It is a weird and scary set of events, reminds us how these same tactics were used in Russia, Germany, China, Nigeria, Korea, the UK, AU, and well there are many more. Its why the phrase " death by a thousand cuts " is #1 in their socialist play book.
You can't take all guns and rights as there would be rebellion. You can take some guns and some rights and some may never even notice.

On top of poor logistics that made the technological advances useless as not enough soldiers could be issued the (in)famous STG-44.

The article is inaccurate.
I figured when an article about a WA court case opens with footage from Florida, it was not going to be objective.
It's a bit more than disturbing when a "new" agency acts first and then figures out the rules.
Congratulations on the decision. Maybe next time we can put down the legal ping pong paddles and go at it with Louisville Sluggers.

So is this the governments response to fixing the school shooting issue, if a child makes a comment and or picture, we will punish the parents / adults living in the home by removing there firearms? What will be next when kids starting putting axes and knives in there conversation/pictures? I applaud them for trying to tackle this issue. However it seems they over react often. I think you have all heard about the elementary kids who played cowboy in the playground, and then they get suspended.... it seems there trying, but actually they are knee jerking... Is this what happens when you get into government, you try to put out a trash can fire with a firefighter 3" hose?

The kid didn't just draw a cartoon. Toward the end of the article it said he also talked about pulling a fire alarm and shooting students. And buying guns from craigs list. That's remarkably vague. Did he actually threaten to shoot people? If so why isn't he at the least expelled from school? On the other hand, maybe he only said "Someone could...etc." that could be a sneakier version of a threat or could be a casual comment.

The fact that the kid spoke about buying guns from Craigs List suggests that he didn't have access to his dad's guns, as well as had never tried to buy guns very hard. Not hard enough to find out Craigs List doesn't sell guns.

The kid may well have said things serious enough to get expelled over or have his own guns confiscated. Reporter did not see fit to report thoroughly enough to tell.

But as for the state having any justification for seizing the guns of the kid's father, that's clearly wrong. If you can seize the father's guns just because you think the kid might have access to them, you could just as legitimately seize the guns of all the kid's relatives, friends, relatives of friends, and neighbors.
