So, honest question here, not intended as a challenge, etc. What do you think can be done about this? I mean, screaming and yelling at people and telling them they're idiots is certainly not going to change their minds, if anything, psychology tells it will only get them to dig their heels in even more. People simply don't change their positions when challenged like that - would you?

As I've stated numerous times in other threads, we don't have a chance of changing the minds of the most hard-core leftists any more than they have a chance of changing the minds of the hard-core right. But there are plenty of folks in or near the middle that are able to listen, and may be open to considering other options. But folks like that won't be swayed by insults or threats either - those folks have to be won to our side, and they do so by hearing well-reasoned arguments coming from a position of fact, logic and rational thought.

I get the anger, because I have it too - even if I don't show it here as some others. But honestly, what can we accomplish by name-calling or shouting people down?

I'm always open to hearing any solid, workable ideas for making things better. And considering we're the minority in this state, it's critical to our survival to find ways to get folks on our side. I'm not saying pander to the far left, I'm saying finding ways to win the middle. Just curious if you do have any thoughts in that particular direction?

I think maybe you should read my post again - and actually read the suggestion I did make. I didn't say anything about listening to the name calling and lies - in fact, I said the extreme left isn't going to be persuaded about anything. What I said, what my suggestion was, is to reach folks in the middle and try to get them on our side. Why? Because we don't have the numbers to stop the leftists otherwise. Maybe your position is that getting in people's faces will convince them to do differently, I probably disagree with that, because I know if someone gets in my face, I'll tell them to pound sand. But I have been convinced to change my mind based on good, quality arguments and reason (I was a Democrat once too, you know). And I've helped turn folks away from the wrong path myself.

I'm not suggesting making friends with the fringe left like Pelosi, Waters, Schummer, etc. What I want to see is to cut their support out from underneath them. The most extreme will support them no matter what. So our best hope is to win the hearts and minds of those that can be won to our side. If we don't find a way to do that, then the Pelosi's of the world will win this fight - and we can't let that happen.

There's a place and time to offend people. And extreme leftists certainly are those that need to be offended. But we desperately need the middle to swing to our side if we're to have any hope of winning this fight. And I'm not going to try to win the middle by getting in anyone's face - I'll do it with reason and facts and logic - because that, ultimately is what makes a convert - and not just a temporary convert, but one that stays on our side.
