Me too. I'm not aware of anywhere I can stretch out. It's unfortunate how people trash their environments. I've filled many contractor bags with trash out there.I really hope this isn't true. Gooseneck has been my favorite spot for years at this point….
People used to be able to enjoy free recreational access to Weyerhauser tree farms/properties that included target shooting. But I think they now say no target shooting anywhere on their properties, even if you purchased outdoor recreation permits from them.Me too. I'm not aware of anywhere I can stretch out. I'm quite dismayed to hear about this and not sure where to turn now.
Yeah I haven't seen any weyerhauser property where access was permitted except for where easments exist on the roadway through it. I am privy to plenty of BLM but none with 300-750yard sight lines like at gooseneck. I guess I'm going to have to do more scouting out by alsea.People used to be able to enjoy free recreational access to Weyerhauser tree farms/properties that included target shooting. There are (or were) old quarries out on Highway 20 East of Sweet Home where one could shoot, in the Willamette National Forest. But its a bit of a drive and may be otherwise occupied
Interesting. Might head up this weekend and check it out. Thanks for updateJust stopped by the BLM sign on Gooseneck road while driving the kids to sleep; I do not see anything prohibiting target shooting. Just this sign with the normal target shooting rules posted. Maybe there was a prohibition order but its torn down? View attachment 1897725
Thanks for scouting and reporting. There's been signs that say "unsafe shooting area" in several spots For as long as I can recall. Most of them have been blasted by shotguns though. Sounds like it's business as usual out there. Thanks for your report. There are several areas/spur roads with "NO SHOOTING" signs and "UNSAFE TARGET SHOOTING" signs off the main road. But the main sign still do not have a "NO SHOOTING"/"Target shooting prohibited for entire area" posted.
This is on one of the roads with the "NO SHOOTING" signs. Took the left road after the primary sign, then to whats left of the "NO SHOOTING" sign (someone tore the "NO" part off), its to the left, then drove it uphill to this point. Went with the family, so didn't really scout for proper shooting areas.

Thank you! Just save me 1.5 hours this weekend
Yeah, it's definitely not awesome driving all the way out there for a closed gate but I needed to pay forward camodeafie's scouting expedition from a couple months ago.Thank you! Just save me 1.5 hours this weekend
I want to know if it's open as wellAnyone been to Gooseneck recently? I'm new to the Salem area and I've been looking for a place to go target shooting. A coworker suggested Gooseneck and I'd like to check it out.
Thanks. I'm going to try to head up there tomorrow. I'll update if I make it.I wasn't able to make it. I saw a post on Reddit yesterday that said it was open though
