Gonna try Muzzle loading for deer this year, what do I need and need to know?

Speaking of Joe Meek my dad grew up in 30's with one of Joe Meek's descendants in the Hillsboro area. I went with my dad to visit him once in the early 60's and over the fireplace mantle there were a couple of old flintlock rifles. They had been owned by Joe Meek he said. Since I was an interested 10 year old kid(you have to remember this was in the Davy Crockett and others craze and the Oregon Centennial had just ended)in old flintlocks he got one down and handed it to me. Then he cocked the frizzen and I pulled the trigger. I got the surprise of my life with all the sparks I was not expecting. I have often wondered what happened to them.

That would have been a cool thing to have seen...Yeah makes ya wonder what happened to those rifles...
