Scored a "97" yesterday for $220. Deals are still out there for the lucky few
Worn bluing but the stock is clean, gouge and crack free.
First thing I checked was that the hammer dropped when pumping with the trigger pulled, you bet it did so I bought it.
Not much pump action shooting now days as it hurts various joints. Still have a 870 trap gun and a 590 with the marine finish. Lately I only shoot an 1100 with a 5 round mag. extension. That goes through a box of shells fast when trick shooting. I can hit 5 hand thrown clays. A long way from the record, 11 I think. But 5 at once is all I can throw these days.

Is it a take down model or solid receiver?

Great price. I love my Winchester 1897. It gets more use than my Rem 870.

Here's a pic of what I turned my 97' into.
Bought a special custom magazine follower and spring that allows 6 rds instead of 5.

Did that come with the bayonet? Isn't that worth the price you paid?

I found this original 1917 bayonet with US markings on Craigslist of all places.
It was passed down from a relative that was in WW l.
