Last I checked, Police are allowed to use discretion as are the other parts of our judicial system. Letter of the law, and spirit of the law. So bottom line is some elected schwantz does not have the authority to demand LEOs do anything. Feel free to correct me if this is in error...been a long time since my criminal justice class.

All States need a ELECTORIAL COLLEGE of counties. That way major population areas can't run the whole State.

Another thing that would help would a law outlawing paid signature gathering -- if an initiative has enough support, volunteers will abound. If it can't get volunteers, it shouldn't be on the ballot. Paid signature gathering is another way that big money interests push around the average joe.

Also, requiring a super-majority for passage of an initiative would prevent the "tyranny of the majority" from becoming reality. 2/3 in favor would be a decent spot. It would also act in some way like an electoral college, at least in the senate, where small counties can be heard.

WTH has gone wrong with the country I knew growing up?

Well, first you have to go back to this court case Wickard v Filburn back in 1942 where the federal government took power it didn't have over some guys wheat he was using for his livestock.

Lol, ok I won't dig that deep. Summary, socialism creep has been happening for years and deep centralization of governmental power. The children are raised in an institution where it pays to glorify governmental power leading people to growing up thinking the government is the answer to all of life's problems.

Then when enough of these people that read history books heavily biased to glorify governmental action get out they misguidedly push for all of life's aches and pains to be fixed by the government.

Further infringing on your daily lives until one is left wondering if they are more slave then free man at this point.

But, we get bread and circuses. At least until the market which our poorly educated masses are completely baffled by run out of bread, and the circus becomes sad.

I wonder if our Founders would have put up with such an irrelevant, sniveling pissant. Since I am a gambling man, I'd wager to the contrary. I'll leave it at that, mi amigos. :s0165:

Been saying that forever but libs always try to argue that the majority voted and it's the will of the people blah blah. Mob rule is more like what they want. I don't trust people that can't think for themselves or do basic things for themselves. Most city dwellers can't do much of anything for themselves because they lack common sense and grew up an extremely sheltered life.

I can not find any press release yet. But I was listening to the Dori Monson show on Kiro radio. He said that Bob Ferguson has made a statement today that he expects the county Sheriff's that will not enforce I-1639, to enforce it. If they don"t he will hold them liable. The same man that allows small quantities of herion and meth to be legal in King and Snohomish counties. What kind of respect does a county Sheriff have for a state AG that will go after them legally. Even the Sheriffs know it is unconstitutional. What a piece of turd Bob is. He is going to run for governor when Jay runs for pres. Washington is doomed if Bob gets to be governor. WTH has gone wrong with the country I knew growing up?

Mabey he should beg on his knees .

For all that think we're just spinning our wheels...do you think this would be happening without 2A supporters taking a stand?

Indeed, some might have wondered if they're spinning their wheels, so it's good to have a little positive feedback. Thanks for that.

The problem is, a large fraction of the power we have to influence the outcome of the current battle relies on having a significant number of people contributing. Letters to representatives, and monetary donations, for example, are most effective in large quantities. If no one knows, or at least has a good idea of the number of other people in the fight, it could lead to some questioning the value of their efforts, or worse, others not even making any effort. I wonder how this issue could be best addressed?

Tell your state legislators that they should not keep exempting themselves from the laws they impose on the rest of us. Find a friendly legislator. Talk them into adding this amendment to every anti-gun bill:

The restrictions and penalties in this bill shall apply to all security personnel and sworn officers while they are on duty protecting any Oregon elected official.

The vote on that amendment should be recorded and reported everywhere, mentioned in every letter to the editor and TV / radio.

Are there any antis that barely won their election that we could target for recall and remove them from office? One victory like that might strike fear into some of the others, and might embolden our side.

Has anyone investigated the sponsors of the anti-gun ballot measures? Ditto for the anti-gun elected folks. If we could find dirt on them it might give some leverage. The dirt on the 3 politicians in Virginia was discovered after the election - did no one bother to look before the election?

Yes, let's start with Democrat Rep. Anna Williams of House District 52. She beat the Republican incumbent by 900ish votes out of about 33k that were cast. We should also be targeting sheriffs and DAs who plan to go along with this massive 2A infringement agenda. Even with out a SAPO in place a Sheriff and DA could prevent a lot of 2A infringement from taking place.

Don't forget county commissioners who are antis and county judges.

They are trying to do the opposite of this in Oregon with SB761. It would prohibit you from printing out a petition signature form for somebody else to sign. Like your Mom who doesn't use a computer or a friend who doesn't have a printer, or the lazy coworker who you might have been able to get a sig from if you had a form with you.

I don't think SB761 should be passed but if it is you can be darn sure I will use the law against them to make it harder to collect signatures for anti-gun petitions.
