There was a guy on Gun Talk last Sunday discussing this very issue of knives being arms under the 2nd Amendment. Apparently, his knife rights organization, has used the 2nd Amendment to have several knife ban laws overturned. I don't recall the name of y\the knife rights group.

The court acknowledged that knives were covered as "arms" by the Second Amendment, supporting my long held assertion that the Second Amendment is not just about firearms, but any "arms".
Heller and Caitano ( Spellin) both specifically spelled out "ALL BEARABLE INSTERMENTS" which includes ALL Blades!
This basically strikes down ALL knife laws in the entire 9th district covered states, so Dirks, Kriss, and Bowie knives are in fact fully legal, as well as all other restrictions such as blade length or folding mechnisism including switch blades or stiletto's!

Caetano opinion. It still hasn't been made doctrine by SCOTUS relating to NFA or States AWBs

Thank you, but I'll stick with my bear arms.

Bout time. In Oregon, there is no prohibition on owning any type of knife. However, carrying some types of knives is restricted.

Carrying of Concealed Weapons
O.R.S. § 166.240 provides:

1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, any person who carries concealed upon the person any knife having a blade that projects or swings into position by force of a spring or by centrifugal force, any dirk, dagger, ice pick, slungshot, metal knuckles, or any similar instrument by the use of which injury could be inflicted upon the person or property of any other person, commits a Class B misdemeanor.
You can open carry, but not concealed carry. And, there is no CKL for knives. With a CHL, you can carry a hand cannon, but not a 3 inch auto knife concealed.

Oregon previously outlawed all of these type of knives, but the law was struck down by the Oregon Supreme Court.

In 1957 Oregon joined the stampede of states prohibiting automatic knives and enacted a ban on "switchblade" knives. That statute, § 166.510, provided that any person committed an offense: (This was the West Side Story great knife ban)

who manufactures, causes to be manufactured, sells, keeps for sale, offers, gives, loans, carries, or possesses an instrument or weapon having a blade which projects or swings into position by force of a spring or other device and commonly known as a switch-blade knife.
The Supreme Court of Oregon found this enactment to be inconsistent with the Oregon State Constitution in the case of State v Delgado, 692 P2d. 610 as announced on December 28, 1984.

The Oregon legislature appropriately repealed the commerce and possession prohibitions (§ 166.510 quoted above) the following year but also amended the concealed carry statute to include a prohibition for the concealed carry of "any knife having a blade that projects or swings into position by force of a spring or by centrifugal force and commonly known as a switchblade knife."

The name of the knife rights group is 'Mexicans who bring knives to gunfights'.
