The gun control craziness and high crime rate finally pushed out of our home state of California. We have family in the Vancouver, Washington area, so we made the big move. I feel like we've escaped from a communist country. California is no longer the gun friendly State I grew up in. In fact, it's not friendly in any regard. Especially Oakland, where we came from. Oakland has one of the highest crime rates in the nation and we were not allowed to own magazines that held more than ten rounds. Plus, we had to pass a test for Handgun Safety Certificate in order to purchase a handgun. Now there are bills pending that would restrict the purchase of ammo. Any mention that we were firearms enthusiasts brought nasty comments and hateful stares. It's insane!

Welcome to free America for now. The Oregon I grew up in has become Californicated, no offense to you and other 2A ex Californians.
I am starting to not recognize my home state of birth sometimes.

According to Glen Tate Olympia is the most Progressive town in the western US.
Personally, I know several "Democrats" that have been shuttled to WA
from Chicago and the Bay Area to pass anti-gun, private property legislation

You could have stayed and fought but you ran like a coward. Potentially a good move but you are still on the left coast.

Leaving CA is like leaving Germany when Hitler rose to power. The state is beyond saving, better to cut the losses and try and keep what few liberties are left. The Feds will eliminate those soon enough.

Welcome here Wizard.

Oh believe me, I fought tooth and nail. I wrote many, many letters to Governor Brown regarding the idiocy surrounding gun control. I wrote countless letters to Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer only to be told that while they valued my input, they were right and I was wrong. I signed petitions by the hundreds. I wrote letters to every State Representative in California. My local representative (Nancy Skinner) sent me an email and told me to stop sending her anymore letters. I donated money to the Calguns Foundation, the National Association for Gun Rights and many others. Fortunately, Jerry Brown vetoed some of the more damaging bills like the one that banned assault rifles and the one that would have allowed Oakland to enact Gun Control ordinances stricter than state laws. I lived in Oakland, that one was outrageous! Not to mention the one that would have forced people to turn in magazines that held more than 10 rounds or be in violation of the law. I may have lost some battles, but I'm still in the war. I've just chosen to continue fighting from outside the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia.

We escaped in 91 and no one can say we didn't fight and no one can call us cowards. Cali is utterly lost unless you brave non cowards want to man up and help us with an armed invasion and massive deportations

yeah its a tough crowd here in the PNW....most of us feel the same about Cali and the citizens that seemed to let one of the greatest states in the nation slip away......please lets not let that happen here.
I live by the border and deal with a lot of transplants that take up residence in Ashland and surrounding areas that would just be happy as hell to turn it into California.....just simply clueless to the rooted culture in these parts......so we are particularly bitter round here LOL.......good luck to you and if you find you just don't fit in you can keep going north, Canada is a lot like your home state

Yeah, I don't blame you for hating Californians. California is not the California I grew up in. California's demise started with the influx of east coast folk during the "flower power" hippy era. We California natives just wanted these idiots to go back where they came from. We weren't interested in their socialistic ideas. But, they stayed. And they brought more of their ilk with them. California natives are outnumbered by about 10,000 to 1 (or worse). The culture I see around me in Washington is like California used to be...the California I remember, where people were friendly but they minded their own business. I come from a very pro military family, a family of hunters, a family of ranchers and firearms enthusiasts. I think we'll fit in just fine.
