Per the article, it's 'estimated' there are 1.6 million long guns in Quebec. I'm guessing they get that number from sales records and background checks (I don't know the process in Canada to purchase a firearm, but I'm sure it's restrictive). If I were to guess, I'd be willing to bet there are far more than the 1.6 million, considering many guns have been in families for a generation or two and likely haven't been part of any modern sales record or background check.

Stories like this just prove the futility of such attempts by the government to regulate guns and gun owners. Good thing is that here in the US the non-compliance rate is even higher than it is in Canada, and there are many, many more guns and gun owners here.

My buddy in Canada says most people with guns in Quebec don't obey Quebec gun laws, and even go to other parts to Canada for guns.

But don't give him credit, he likes some guns but he's still a damn commie (and he calls himself one) that wants to elect people that are the reason the gun laws are like that.
