Wonder if there's any headed up towards swift either on the Lewis, in Yale, or in swift itself. Lewis has flowing water and rocky bottom. Yale probably would have some too.

From my childhood days in CA we would get them from lake Tahoe by the pounds. As a previous member stated, 5 gal buckets filled to the brim. And yes we called them crawdads.

We had never used a trap, bait or a string as y'all have stated. We would take a deep breath, dive down 10-15 feet to the bottom under the dock, lift up a rock and grab the slowest one behind the "claw arms". Head back up to the surface and drop it in the bucket held by one of the girls on the dock who didn't want to dive for them.

I remember one trip my dad got too sauced and fell asleep on his beach chair. We woke him up by getting one of those crawdads to pinch the bubblegum out of his toe. Good times.

Google any product having to do with crawdads and you won't find anything. Everything says crawfish.
Way to ruin my childhood. If I did that I'm sure it wouldn't even show up as "crawfish" anyways it would show up as crayfish. But I'll tell you one thing, I've never heard anyone around here say "crayfish" or "crawfish". It's always been crawdads.
