I have what I believe to be a 300 round can of 54r made for the Type 53 carbine.

Do you guys know if these are on strippers, and what the grain is? Assuming it's FMJ.

Tried looking around but couldn't find info specific to this can.

The 53 on the can strongly suggest that is a 7.62 x 54, but yes after a few image searches that can does appear unique....images of this caliber of Chinese ammo in similar cans, that made their way to Canada via Albania, show loose rounds and no strippers. One may want to carefully open the can from the underneath side to preserve the markings on top. I have a couple of old Chinese spam cans that I acquired around 1992, and that is my plan when I open them. I guess some collect the spam cans.

Thanks for the great feedback. Wish I had two of these so I could verify. I don't want to crack it open since as you said, some people like to collect these.
