I would suppose, little in Colt collecting world is cheap...unless the seller doesn't know what they have.

In this world with the net being an endless encyclopedia, you'd think folks would do a little research...but there's some that don't.
Cerberus is spot on after the war the bring backs were the only game available
However starting in the 1958 thru 1968 the DCM program way before the CMP sold disbursed around 146,180

To look at values IMG_6862.jpeg
The top one was valued bought in 1992 for $650
The bottom on abiet more rare and a tad better condition was valued at $6000 in 2024

I have a 1914 colt that someone took off the United States property marking must be somewhat common.
Isaac:
This was a common practice on mostly war bring backs it was a federal offense to steal government property so most were Scrubbed
This was common until the late 1950's When the DCM (Pre CMP) were selling surplus 1911's and a1's then it started to taper off in the mid 70's
Fast forward to today and that reduces the collector value in 1/2
Sadly enjoy her for what she is and shoot extremely sparingly as the steel is not very strong Remember in 1914 that pistol's design life was 5,000 rounds so every shot could be your last 😉
