I ended up kind of Frankensteining together between the 1911A1 and the MESOC clone, basically trying to make a milspec with a ring hammer and extended beavertail. I just have a natural tendency to ride up high when I shoot, so this should keep my hand tucked back enough while riding high.

I'm trying to visualize how the gun can recoil enough that the hammer is hitting you there? Is it the hammer hitting you or the slide? One handed grip or two?
I'm not a 1911 guy, only shot a couple of 'em, but am having a hard time wrapping my head around that type of injury.

I got big man paws, and the web of my hand squeezes up to where the hammer resets to after firing. I get pinched, or sometimes even tore up to the point of bleeding. It seems to happen with both two handed or one handed. I've tried to ride lower, with my thumb low instead of high, but my hand just seems to naturally want to creep up unto the pistol and get back into biting range.
