There is hope that palmetto state might do a 5.45 product line.
I'd jump on a 5.45 pistol at a grand or less.

Good luck finding it. Even if you find one that cheap, the other resources for it will likely price you out of the platform if you're only looking to pay that much for the rifle. Good magazines are sitting at $50+ from the lowliest Circle-10s and slab-sides, up to the higher-end offerings. And, 5.45x39mm is a rather hot commodity abroad these days.
