Bought the kit at a gun show , ist attempt wasn't perfect , I might have a little operator error , seemed to take several coats , got a little messy , not perfect , but i seldom do real well on the initial try at most things ! (practice makes almost perfect ) .
 
Been using my kit for years. The sight was to be CLEAN! I use acetone to clean it several times to remove all traces of oil. You need to prop the gun up so the part that is painted well be horizontal. I then apply one heavy coat and let it dry for 24hrs. This leaves a smooth, glass like finish that reflects light very well. YMMV
