I love it! It used to be the the American Civil Liberties Union who would fight for the civil rights of folks. They don't give a rip about human rights that are no longer de rigueur.

Sen. President Peter Courtney said today.....

.... that Oregon needs to pass the 21 law to prevent young people from buying rifles and shotguns. Otherwise, stores could face a lawsuit.

You can bet that they will bring it as soon as they can.

the law suit will still stand--the Discrimination has already occurred. The changing of the law would be "after the fact" corrective action

Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian said this week that he thinks adding gun sales to the list of items exempt from the state's discrimination laws would be "appropriate." He said his agency would accept complaints from people who feel they have been discriminated against by the policies.

Imagine that, the same guy who put the screws to a baker over a cake won't do anything about the same law when it's another inantimate object.

Perhaps Brad had more of an emotional interest in one and not so much the other...

Or he realizes they've kicked open Pandora's Box...

More lawsuits need to be filed before Oregon's Socialistic Legislature and governor have an opportunity to amend state law...

And put pressure on Peter Courtney, he needs to honor this oath or resign...

These stores will probably stop selling guns altogether.

I almost never go into FM - they are overpriced on most things. Bi-Mart, I occasionally go into and do a quick once over of their gun counter, but last time I bought anything gun related there, it was ammo on sale and it was several years ago. Most big box stores are too expensive and/or have limited selection for me to bother with them unless I am someplace or sometime that they are the only choice to get some ammo that I need immediately - that hasn't happened in decades.

IANAL, but my bet is that once they stop selling guns/ammo altogether, then any lawsuit will be dismissed as being moot.

Both stores should have never got involved in politics.... Just keep selling like normal or stop selling all together.. "Simple"

These days I try to buy all my firearm supplies at my local gun store to support his small business.

I do the same thing! I walk out with at least a Magazine or Box of ammo ! It's just the right thing to do to support local gunshops.

That small purchase helps them!

in fact the case would not be moot
#1 the case of the cake, the supposed discrimination happened before the discrimination law was in place, yet allowed to proceed.
#2 the fact that the young people had been discriminated against has already happened in violation of Oregon LAW

Avakian is a frickin' Socialist! He is a danger to everyone's freedoms and he doesn't care. Why he gets voted into office just amazes me.

One of our locals (the larger one, with more selection) I will not go to, as they treat me poorly and are way out of the way.

That is the difference though. I will not shop there, as they obviously don't want my money. If they said they would not sell to females and would deny me my Constitutional right, that would deserve more legal precedings. I see these age descrimination cases the same way.

BTW-Our local Walmart "gun guys" have always been polite.

I spoke to my favorite lady in the sporting goods at Bimart today and told her I found it shamefull our men can fight in the ME at 18 but not buy a gun at her store now, and that it appears to be a simple case of virtue signaling by corporate. She agreed and said there have been a ton of people in complaining, but only one person said they liked the idea.

I told her they were going to be sued now and it's shameful corporate is jumping in with the likes of Dicks and the liars at CNN.

She understood and agreed, but can't do anything about it.

Fred Meyers' gun counter was crap anyway. Prices were super-high and the guns weren't even organized. I never saw anybody at the counter of the one in Gresham. I was really excited when I first saw they had such a thing, but then was sorely disappointed! Good riddance!

And don't get me started on Dick's...

Is that out-of-context thread still a thing?
