best scope for coast range hunting

I'd see if they still make a flip scope mount. I have one on the gun my grandpa left me.

Been considering one for the old .45-70.

Thanks everybody for the advice and recommendations. I ended up buying the Vortex 1-4x24. George, the Vortex guy at the gun show gave me a real deal. I have been all over the internet and his price was the best by a large margin! I have bought 2 scopes from him before. One time I was having trouble mounting one of the scopes and he sent me a set of rings no charge. Thanks again for answering questions.
