My understanding of the ORSs is that automatic knives aren't illegal to own or carry unless one is a felon as long as they aren't considered concealed. So, what does that mean, exactly? How does one carry a legally-owned automatic knife under all circumstances and still comply with the law? The popularity of Oregon-made Benchmade knives, many of which are autos, got me thinking of this as I would like to carry one, but don't want to get myself in trouble. The strange thing to me is that I can manually open a knife just as quickly as I can the autos I've toyed with, so why the laws surrounding autos in the first place???
