Some of you mentioned females being attacked on here.
A long time ago, in the late 90's, in my former Great Lakes state, the troopers - state highway patrol were telling women on the NEWS (Boob tube, radio and in the newspapers.) that they should NOT stop at any rest stops due to a huge increase in CRIME and people being attacked mainly females.
Now, I used to be VERY active all over the WWWeb and into politics/gun rights in my former state and on the national level. I was ACTIVE and pro RKBA long before I bought my own guns too.
IT was really DUMB (NO offense!) that the state highway patrol was so worried about people stopping to tinkle at a rest stop because THEY and the HEAD KAHUNAS at the FOP basically BLOCKED every single chance to give the NOD or 'their special approval' to a LYING sack of you know what Republican Governor (Taft!) who kept on promising to GIVE THE SERFS CCW in that state. He promised us the world and, yes, I did vote for HIM and his false promises and the other Rs. So did my late husband. BUT the GOVERNOR said, later on, that IF the state highway patrol AND the FOP were AGAINST CCW for the citizens of that state that he WOULD not sign or pass CCW for the citizens! So it NEVER EVER PASSED - NO CCW. Smoke and mirrors time.
I got into it (One of MANY discussions over several years!) in a NICE WAY with some state politicos at Camp Perry at shooting event about this very issue too. THEY TOLD ME point blank that the GOVERNOR would never pass it because the FOP and the patrol were NOT for it ever. At least, those R leaders were HONEST WITH ME ABOUT TAFT. But I will not GO there now. LOL
The DEPUTIES and many sheriffs ALL ACROSS that former state that I lived in including in my very rural farm/lake county - boonies were FOR the citizens to carry concealed. OPEN CARRY was allowed. NO ccw. NO loaded gun in your truck or car. Ammo and the gun NO matter what STYLE it was had to be UNLOADED and kept apart in your TRUNK or in the BACK AWAY from you if you had no trunk in your car or if you were in your pick up truck. That was the law.
Years later, I do NOT remember the EXACT DATE now but it was after I moved away and after my late husband died, a D governor finally PASSED a CCW law in that state.
So here was the patrol warning FEMALES (Rapes, robberies, assaults, attempted kidnappings and murders.) and males not to stop to tinkle (Diaper time?!) and yet they did not give a rat's @@@ if serfs could be armed.
I have a LOT of peace office friends too. I LOVE and RESPECT OUR MEN IN BLUE. I absolutely am NOT knocking the profession but I used to FIGHT FOR CCW back there as I stated. But I always said, "What makes YOUR LIFE worth more than mine since you CAN protect yourself legally in the dark or daytime while on a VERY DESOLATE ROAD or on a highway or turnpike or city street?!"
In the late 90's, before that time frame and into the early 2000's - there was NO ccw in that Great Lakes state. We were one of the LAST REMAINING TOP 7 anti ccw states in the entire nation. And some of the other anti states always shocked me too. States like my late husband's where I moved to and lived for a long time and other rural states just plain shocked me. THEY SAID that if you absolutely MUST use public transportation or WALK to and from your 'stop' or be in your neighborhood even in NICE areas that if you should be ATTACKED by one criminal or a GANG of them - that you should NOT FIGHT BACK and DO WHAT THEY SAY - FOLLOW THE CRIMINAL'S ORDERS to you.
In other words, ROLL OVER and let them attack you or roll over and let them rape and MURDER you or KIDNAP YOU and do whatever the H@!! that they choose to do to YOU.
So the criminals were not just GRABBING a wallet or a handbag and knocking the victim DOWN on public transportation or on the streets - they were doing much worse in those crime waves BIG time!
They have done much worse with that now former Mayor Di or De sack of dung blasio IDIOT! HIS REAL NAME that he changed from to De or de or di Blasio to GAIN some political advantage was Warren Wilhelm Jr.

I was always told GROWING UP that you should KICK the man in the groin if you could but TRY TO RUN AWAY FIRST, scream bloody murder, fight back in any way that you could IF you could not run away fast enough, YELL for help for an adult or any person's help, yell for a policeman who may be walking a beat or on a horse but you usually only saw those types of policemen IN the city and not in suburban areas and you sure as heck did not see them way out in the county or in the country/boonies! In those places, they were in police cars.
So what do the policemen say NOW if a female is not armed or if it is not LEGAL for her (Or him.) to carry a handgun or SPRAY in some cities, counties or states? Fight back or do NOT fight back?
Keys in hand or pocket, a pen in hand/pocket, coin in a sock - pocket, a small LEGAL length blade knife in pocket, a flashlight in pocket, etc.?!
LOOK at those CT murders in the RICH AREA with the doctor's now dead wife and daughter! That is a huge long story and I have posted it before. That doctor is now even a WORSE ANTI RKBA man and he had his family RAPED, tortured and murdered and a fire was started too if my memory is right there. He escaped.
The CT doctor's wife did EXACTLY WHAT SHE WAS TOLD by the 2 criminals including going to a bank AND taking out money to give to the dirt bag, crazy, sadistic rapists and murderers. YET, they still got murdered in the END and the husband who 'escaped' but was not there to come back to their AID FAST ENOUGH lived.

Feel good story of the day. It's not good that the victim of the robbery was shot but it does reinforce his case of self defense. If this happened more often and the courts did their jobs and put this human sewage in prison crime would go down. If you phrase it like that, probably not as positive for you as you would like in the court of law because the law doesn't view property theft as sufficient grounds for shooting people.
Now if you went out to your truck because you needed to check on supplies for a job and happened to encounter someone trying to steal your trailer and they happened to attack you whereupon you feared for your life and in self defense shot the person - that would be justified.

Scum are scum, many are dopers so of course often not the sharpest knife and all. They do still learn as any simple brain does. Teach them there is no consequences and you get more of the behavior. Now of course some people are going to finally get enough of this and some of the unlucky scum will pull some stunt to the wrong person and pay dearly. This part does not bother me. What does is often the person who was tired of being a victim and fights back will also often pay. It should not be this way but, sadly this is still what many people are saying they want.
