Pinned/welded breaks kinda died off after the 1994 AWB expired. No longer were threaded barrels such an evil thing.

Now, they are primarily used on shorter than 16" barrels to bring the barrel to a legal non-NFA length. Example: a 14.5" barrel with a pinned A2X flash hider meets the required 16" OAL. If the barrel is already 16" there is no reason good reason to pin the MD.

I would suggest anyone with a need for a pinned MD consider the VDI Manimal Extended Flash Hider
