Because they work really hard down there to find places to shoot...hint..... hint...So why are there not any scheduled for Oregon but dozens for Commifornia?
Not yet..So Wheeler44 have you asked Marcola or ARPC?
OK PM me with some contact info and I or another 'seeder will get the ball rollin'.....I am a member at EEGC in Marcola. I hereby invite you as an Appleseed rep to speak with the board of directors at Emerald Empire Gun Club.
Please see above and we'll get down there too....Wheeler, send me some mail on info and I'll forward it to ARPC with an invite from me
Hey.. great to meet here as well.....Wheeler, I'm the dude who asked you guys if you didn't mind me shooting the indoor pistol range while you met in the classroom at Douglas Ridge. Had never heard of appleseed till you mentioned it there.
I'm new to DRRC so am not sure who the RSO's you'd need to talk to would be, but their web site is www.douglasridge.org if that helps at all. I'd love to participate if you guys are able to hold a session there.
Amazing that there are several scheduled in CA... I didn't think those serfs were allowed to have any shootin' iron??
It depends on soooo many things....but it is safe to say..A few on Saturday(Lots and lots of instruction) and quite a few on Sunday(lots and lots of shooting). This is really intriguing, the wife and I are going to look into it doing one of these weekends. One question I have for what you posted above is how many chances do you get to qualify during the weekend?
^^^^ Shoot a 210 or better on a reduced AQT.
That's forty aimed shots
10 off hand....( 1 mag, 2 minutes)
10 sitting or kneeling...(55 seconds with a mag change, start from standing)
10 rapid fire prone (65 seconds with a mag change, start from standing)
10 slow fire prone ( 1 mag, 5 minutes) this stage scores double for a potential 100 points all other stages are 50 points....on progressively smaller silhouette targets (slow fire prone targets are about 2"x2" for a 3 ring(lowest scoring shot) and 1"x1" for a 5 ring (highest scoring shot) the off hand is about 8"x8" 3ring and 3"x4" 5 ring)
at 25 meters..
There is one offhand silhouette, two sitting/ kneeling, three rapid prone and four slow fire prone so you will need to change your position accordingly..(NPOA.. Natural point of aim)
Oh, they can have them, alright, but its a rough row to hoe, what with all the commipinkolibthought, particularly in Sackamenna......
I know a number of very avid shooters down there. They chafe against all the stupidity, grin and bear it, and shoot on anyway. Most live well outside urban areas, where there are some wide open spaces. My brothers used to head off into an unfenced military reservation to shoot..... found a downed jet fighter in there once, still had the 50mm wing cannon, and fairly full ammo lockers, all intact. They thought about taking one of the cannon and a half ton of ammo... now THAT would be a thing to have. Things have changed a lot since then, though... they can't even GO there any more, let alone FIND anything fun.
Most I know are also working to seat better state government officials... one young chap I know of tried to join his local PAC, ended up getting asked to run for state senator... and said SURE......
crazy place, that..... and getting more so by the month. Next year, ammo restrictions//registration fall on everyone..... it already costs about half again what the same UPC item does up here. And we thought WE had problems getting stuff?
I am planning to attend my first appleseed event in Oregon in late august along with my father and two brother-in-laws. However, I have a question regarding the sunday shoot--or as I understand it the qualification day shoot.
While prepping for appleseed it has become apparent that the free-standing portion of the qualification is going to be impossible for me. I just cannot keep the rifle steady enough to be proficient at long ranges while standing.
I have yet to register. If I cannot do the standing portion, should I even bother registering for the second day of shooting?
If I do register for the second day, can accomodations be made for me to do the shoot. Generally all i require is something to lean on. Can this be done? Note that I do not really care if I get my 'actual' certification. I just really wanna shoot my M1 ;-)
Similarly, the sitting portion may also be difficult as with my advanced degenerative disk condition, this is quite painful. What accomodations can be made for such cases?
