I'll continue my life the way I did yesterday and the day before that. Glock 45, tourniquet, knife. I'm happy and fully confident in myself. Its the other people carrying "more," or just starting to carry (without training) that I am concerned with.

I carried a G45 for a while. Loved that gun. The 48 is just easier to hide. I prefer shooting a G45 any day over the 48 though.

I also have a 48 for certain occasions. I finally found a set up that allows me to carry my 45. Super comfortable. Easy concealment. It took some time and money with a lot of trial and error but I like what I am running now. I do really like the 48 though too. I had the 43x and traded slides to create the 48. The longer sight radius is nice.

To be completely honest I have been a casual carry guy for decades. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Over the past decade I've been carrying more often. But ever since Covid started I put my gun on after I put my pants on, every time. I thought the world was crazy before the undercooked bat snack, but now every day is a new game. YMMV...

I EDC my G48 if I'm vertical. The G45 concealed decently enough, it was more driving where it got uncomfortable. The G48 is GTG for a few hour drive.

I prefer late night/early morning shopping. The folks at the local WinCo are accustomed to me being there, besides the cases of groceries stacked up in the middle of the aisles provides additional cover.

For EDC, continue carrying what I've been carrying. Carry what you shoot well and shoot well what you carry. Be aware of your environment and keep your head on a swivel.

Yea I drive all day. Load and unload trucks etc. I spend a lot of time sitting, bending, etc. that's why I went to the 48 but with my new holster I can do the same with the 45 with about the same comfort level.

Not just this incident, but over the last year or so, I am growing much more aware of my surroundings and now trying to be proactive rather than reactive. I tend to watch for out of place people and avoid them rather than wait until I hear gunfire before I react.

Been so EVERY on the EDC that I just realized I played a gig last Saturday and I was strapped the whole night.

If I am dressed, I am armed.

I have zero delusions about my abilities or chance of survival.

It has much more to do with treating my guns with the respect they deserve.

My car keys and wallet - that's a whole 'nuther deal right there.

I am not sure I would depend on cases of groceries for cover. Concealment yes, but cover not so much.

I am with you on what to carry. As well as being aware of your surroundings.

As far as others running away from gunfire. I have spent most of my life training to run toward gunfire. I am unsure that now, even being retired I could turn my back on people who desperately need deadly force intervention to stay alive. Even with the risk of being engaged by arriving uniformed personnel.

This is why I only grocery shop in the cinderblock aisle.

Active Self Protection channel ("cover your asp")on YouTube - everyone knows, right? - gives very important info regarding situational awareness and counter-ambushes if necessary. Fortunately, we do not live in Brazil, so do not use our EDC on an ED basis.
