I just bought a 1951 savage 99 in .300 savage. As I look for dies, I find that both a standard die set and a small base set are available for the caliber. The small base set is recommended for the lever action 99, however I wonder how many of you are reloading for your .300 savage model 99 with standard dies with no problems.

Thanks, Cord

Generally small base dies are for semi auto rifles. They actually size the case a little smaller than normal to help eliminate any feeding problems.
