Basic features to look for would be second focal plane, simple reticle and the widest Field of View. That will set you up with an easy to use 250yd maximum point blank range zero that will also work great with fast target acquisition on close in shots in heavy timber.Any recommendations for a scope for a .270 as a medium level scope - shooting up to 250 yards. Thanks

Nice set up!My Ruger mod. M77 .270 win. sported a Leupold vari-x-3, 2.5 x8 gold band since the 70's, though rarely left 3 power, I had the extra when needed. rugged, excellent brightness and clarity in low light, more so than its 3-9 brother.. I could not have imagined needing better.
