For more budget friendly options, Look for
  • Tract Toric,
  • used Leupold Mk 4
  • Arken EP5
  • Meopta
Edit to add, I have a 4.5-14x56 Leupold VX-7/L on my 338 Edge. It's perfect for out to 1K.
I've never handled a Tract. I have the other three. The Leupy is the lightest, the Arken is the heaviest and each one will do beautifully. I have come to really like the Meopta.
Looking through all of my scopes (up to 25x) at a mile, even a 36"hx50"w target looks like a tiny target. At that point, it's all you.

Kahles, US Optics, Zeiss, Leica, or Nightforce.
Add Steiner and Schmidt Bender to that and you've got a list of can't go wrong options.

BTW, a budget range and host rifle information might be handy for narrowing down your RFI. That cartridge demands a decent quality optic just to survive let alone reach it's full potential.

I have competed against others with $10,000+ rifles and glass.
I beat them - everyone I came up against.
Here is my rig.

Anything higher power will render the rifle useless for close shots, that require rapid target acquisition.
I have shot successfully out to 2,300 yards.

After 200 yards, it's all about the shooter and his/her skill at reading the environment correctly and dope.
My $.02

Totally agree with ya. but i am not competing, nor providing overwatch, just a dude that wants to sling lead. Back in a former life when .mil used to pay for all my LR and ELR courses. i atttended all the Barrett courses they offered. why cause i hate the 107 and would rather have someone field goal my balls everytime i pulled the trigger than actually shoot it.
During the ELR course we were shooting out to 2k with the issue Leupold 4-14x50 optic on our 107s. i have one of the Leupy 4-14x50 and compairing it to a Arken SHII on a friends rig. i really couldnt tell a difference between the two and the EP-5 is supposed to be better glass. were there issues i am not exactly sure, my eyes are old and tired. i dont like the Arken eye box as it is unforgiving

i guess i am at the point where i just want to shoot to the limitations of myself and my equipment. I could move one of my USO's over to it but i really dont want too. when it comes to optics, i remember when the Leupold MK4 Ultra line was only 10x 16x and 20x. and the 10 and 16 were the pinnacle of optics and they were on every tactical and precision rifle. if you show up today at the range with MK4 10x you would be treated like you had ebola and a bad case of lice.

Optics are a subjective topic as everyones eyes translate that data differently.
