So she lives in Washington and doesn't have a clue about her own state's very stringent and restrictive gun laws? But she wants them even more restrictive so she'll have this feeling of euphoria and safety based simply on knowing there are more laws passed?
What about all the law abiding citizen's right to carry a gun to make themselves feel safer? Seems far more rational to be prepared and protect yourself than to believe another meaningless gun law on top of the existing will somehow protect her.
People who believe that taking rights from others will somehow make their life better, need to have their rights taken away too.

As Spock would probably say: "Logic dictates if gun owners were as violent as anti-gunners say they are, there would be no anti-gunners"

I can't complain about this...
Her 1st amendment right to express her opinion is clearly written in the constitution.
I didn't even realize I'd stepped into thread questioning Dear Lady's Constitutionally protected 1A rights and NWFA members' apparent exclusion from the same.

I thought it was about us criticizing Dear Lady's ignorant smearing of 2A supporters.

The reason that I thought that was because, to date, nobody has questioned HER inalienable right to free speech... at least not in this thread.

Maybe I need to learn to read more into what people write vs just taking it at face value.

Dear Lady,

Your writing offends me but I'll not ask for our keepers to stop you from stating your case.

P.S. Our Rights don't cease where your fear begins....you're dismissed.

There is nothing more dangerous than the spread of ignorance... since the advent of social media, everybody with an internet connection has access to to nearly every ear in the world. There are zero filters. Zero background checks. zero repercussion if they are wrong.
One of the most common arguments of the anti gunner is that the 2nd amendment was written assuming we were all armed with single shot muskets... Hard to carry out a mass shooting with a musket.
OK..
It was also written assuming the newspaper, hand written letters, maybe the occasional public speaking... literal soapboxes were our means of expressing free speech.
Did the founding fathers foresee the ability of every board house wife, sitting at home dealing with postpartum depression having unlimited access to millions on a whim?
No filters, no time to think things through before proceeding. No speaking safety rules, no permit to carry Facebook...
in fact women couldn't even vote at that time...
The first amendment has become stronger over time. Applied to more people, and it has absolutely become weaponized beyond fully semi automatic.

I've said before.. if the pen is mightier than the sword... social media is a WMD.

Yet here we are. Both amendments are still as important as the day the were penned..
One is there to protect the other. And vise versa.

Ben Franklin said it best...

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety"

There IS a Second Amendment in the Constitution that specifies that the right to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed. Yet it has been a number of times, in many ways, and still is being infringed.

There IS a First Amendment that says that freedom of speech cannot be infringed, by the government. And it seems to be ever expanding to include all kinds of modern communication, as well as Live Nude Dancing and porn.

However,

There is NO amendment that guarantees a dreamed up right to live without fear. If there was, the media would be immediately abolished, thank you very much. Schools would not be teaching kids about global warming and scaring them enough that they leave school to attend demonstrations. Bullying would result in the death penalty.

Ask yourself who benefits from ginning up all manner of fears. It's our gov masters and the elite ruling class.

If one truly wishes to have less fear (it's not possible to eliminate all fear) for their safety and that of their kids, then they should arm themselves, take advanced firearms classes, and harden schools, including armed guards, more school safety officers, and armed teachers.

That is all...

A right only exists if you have the means to secure it. Since neither she nor the state has the means to secure her safety at all times, the rights she is specifying don't exist.

But she does have the right to access tools to secure her own safety, that she appears too dumb to aquire.

I'm wondering if this fantasy land could make anything a right, in which case I have a right not to be assaulted by ignorance. :)

Fantasies can be nice... Unrealistic but nice.

Common sense vs. scientific research, criminology, gun-violence research, and history; which avenue would produce the best policy and outcome? It seems to me that these "common sense" advocates are just plain ignorant and hysterical. No exactly insightful on my part.

I can't see what's odd about this. I hear people say exactly what she just said all the time and have for decades. She is certainly not in some small minority. She has her inane ideas supported all the time by people in power so no doubt feels good about spouting this. If you want to really stump her all you would have to do is ask why the law makers she loves and supports all have guns protecting them every where they go, yet she does not need, nor should she have one. When you ask someone like her that question, and see the response, you see she is unreachable. She is going totally on emotion, no facts get past her emotion.
And it's all about our kids for God's sake! Our poor defenseless kids! Who could argue against that? Poooooor kids! The same argument could be made about what could happen to "our kids" (and all of us for that matter) when we have no means for defense at all against evil! No one wants to dwell on what could happen then but history has plenty of examples of horrible outcomes when no one is there to stop the release of "the hounds of hell"! The unbridled massacres, the genocides, the horrors that no one likes to imagine could happen when absolute power corrupts absolutely! Let's all grab our teddy bears and champion the rights of those who want to be shielded from the presence of GUNS! I shudder to think of a society where all rights and guns are given up for the illusion of safety!

Hmmmm, in binary you have 1s and 0s... you're X would be non-binary. ;):D
Their term not mine...

They give you:
F - Female
M - Male
X - Binary

As your choices... As a CS major, I get binary is 0's and 1's, it's either off or on... Perhaps they should be referred to as EBCDIC... :)

I personally think of them as ASCII's....
