Numerous counties have already drafted or passed pro-gun resolutions or ordinances. We need more. On January 22, Yamhill County will be hearing a resolution opposing expansion of Oregon's failed background check system. Be there if you can.

DRAFT Second Amendment Resolution 011415
The Yamhill County Board of Commissioners invites public comment on a draft resolution opposing the expansion of the background check system for firearms purchases.
Commissioners invite public comment on this issue at their next formal session when the adoption of the resolution will be discussed – Thursday, January 22nd at 10:00 a.m. in Room 32 of the County Courthouse in McMinnville.

FOR THE COUNTY OF YAMHILL
SITTING FOR THE TRANSACTION OF COUNTY BUSINESS
In the Matter of a Resolution Opposing )

Background Check System ) Board Order 15 -
THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF YAMHILL COUNTY, OREGON ("the Board") sat for the transaction of county business in formal session on _____________, commissioners Allen Springer, Mary Starrett, and Stan Primozich being present.
Whereas, the Board of Commissioners of Yamhill County is sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, and Whereas, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution states that the "right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed," and Whereas, the current firearms purchase background check system results in frequent, costly, time consuming, and unjustified delays and denials of firearms transfers to qualified persons, and Whereas, the current firearms purchase background check system rarely results in arrests of prohibited persons, and

Whereas, the current firearms purchase background check system rarely results in criminal prosecutions or convictions of prohibited persons, and Whereas, the current firearms purchase background check system frequently denies or delays the rights of law abiding citizens, and Whereas, the current firearms purchase background check system puts law-abiding citizens in danger by frequently preventing them from being able to legally access self-defense firearms in times of personal danger, and Whereas, the current firearms purchase background check system requires that persons must request permission from the state before exercising a Constitutional right, something that is repugnant to the Constitution itself.
NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Yamhill County Board of
Commissioners oppose any expansion of Oregon's failed "background check" system to firearms transfers between qualified, law abiding persons.

Good job! Now if we can get other counties to follow suit.
From OFF.....

1.22.15

"Today the Yamhill County Commission unanimously passed Resolution 011415.

This resolution expresses the County's opposition to any expansion of Oregon's failed "background check" system.

This was a great victory and a terrific first step to getting other counties to stand up to Portland and say "not here."

We are grateful to all who came and voiced their support for the resolution. Oregonians traveled from as far away as Rogue River to express their approval. No one testified against it.

Now we need to get other counties to step up. Yamhill has taken the lead. Where does your county stand?

It's critical that each of us hold our county commissioners accountable. If the bullies from Portland try to control the entire state, it is the sheriffs and county commissioners who can stop them.

We have just received the latest numbers from the Oregon State Police concerning their denials of firearms purchases. Once again they demonstrate that the entire system is a joke intended to do nothing more than harass the law abiding.

In December of 2014, 197 persons were denied firearms purchases. Of those, the Oregon State Police claim that 139 were "prohibited persons", you know, bad guys who are breaking the law if they try to buy a gun. Of those 139, the number arrested and taken off the streets so they could not commit further mayhem was a whopping 3.

Yes, you read that right. Three.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to write the Yamhill County Commissioners. Special thanks to everyone who took the time to come and testify, and of course, our thanks to the Commissioners for their willingness to stand up for the people they represent.
