GOA and GOF have pulled out of the Harney County case against M114.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Two gun advocacy organizations have withdrawn from their lawsuit against the state of Oregon that challenged Measure 114 — a voter-approved measure limiting ammunition capacity and requiring permit-to-purchase laws along with a state police database on guns.

Court documents filed on May 31 say Gun Owners of America Inc. and the Gun Owners Foundation are "voluntarily dismissing their claims against defendants without costs or fees."

The case's two other plaintiffs — Joseph Arnold and Cliff Asmussen — are still moving forward with the suit, according to Senior Associate Attorney Tony Aiello, Jr. who is representing the gun organizations.

"This case is still ongoing and there has been no change to the temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction secured by the plaintiffs in this case. This voluntary dismissal is limited only to Gun Owners of America, Inc. and Gun Owners Foundation whose participation as named plaintiffs, in this case, is not necessary for its adjudication," Aiello told KOIN 6 News. "Plaintiffs Arnold and Asmussen will continue representing the interests of Oregonians with the full support of Gun Owners of America, Inc. and Gun Owners Foundation, as well as their legal team."

Have no idea what effect this has on the lawsuits or who is paying the bills.

Not to be overly glib about it, but it sounds like they have decided it's a slam dunk one way or the other and their time is best spent elsewhere
That is my suspicion, I just wish they were more transparent about it. Or maybe the media is omitting that info intentionally....

That was my thinking as well. Either the two plaintiffs left can handle the case to fruition in favor of gun owners, or the case has little merit and is doomed to ultimately go against them.

With other states getting injunctions against mag bans and AR bans, maybe they know something. Keep in mind, we still haven't heard from Benitez.

Hard to get clicks if you give it all away in the first article
Im not very confident the media is saving more clicks to report anything suggesting the trial is a slam dunk for gun rights.

But overall it sounds like this may not be something to get upset at GOA about... "probably".

Counter point: All they care about IS the dollars and they have no moral or political compass not tied to profits
Ive thought about this before and while its a really good point it just doesnt seem to happen. If they cared only about profit then why omit facts that dont support a particular bias? Facts would = clicks right?

Whose dollars, a good question ;) advertisers?

It's more profitable to sell the National Enquirer at the markets than to sell the Encyclopedia Britannica ;) remember those? Remember the door to door Encyclopedia salespeople? :s0140:

Note for example; how Wikipedia, as biased as it tends to be with "anyone can edit", thing.. continually asks for donations whereas news media's infotainment sites don't ask for donations.. some news sites asks for subscription fees though.

As always with the media, the "what" but never the "why." Pro-2A irons are in the fire nationwide and the biggies must get all the attention. Once they fall, they will take the smaller laws with them.
