I've been watching the YouTube channel "Townsends" and I decided to try out one of the recipes he posted. It is a ginger ale from 1811. Just bottled it, and so far I really like the flavor. I'll let it age for a week or so in the fridge before I pop whole a bottle.

His channel is a great source of information on life in early America. Next recipe I want to go for is spruce beer; it was rationed out to all the American soldiers in the 18th century to fend off scurvy.

Cheers!
