I just discovered Paul Harrell's videos and am hooked. He is a rare talent, informative, entertaining and comes across as the guy next door. Love the settings he uses. MKWERX of Rock Creek I admired your defense of Paul Harrell.

I really enjoy his videos and find him a no nonsense and down to earth kind of guy. I know what others are saying about certain folks and subjects or angles of subjects on YT not being presented when you'd figure you'd of stumbled across them earlier.

I recently saw a video series about some guys done in @ 1971 in the PNW that decided to go on a motorbike trip to tropical mexico. It was a wild show that i am certain i would have seen or heard of as it had all of the things that young guys are apt to like. Motorbikes, girls, freedom...

Then I got to thinking about what sort of group would want to squash the notion of being young and free and wild...

It was during The Viet Nam War, and I'll let you come to your own conclusions as to why it'd been hidden.

I am a new member, former Marine, and long time Hickok45 watcher. Major fan of Hickok. I think Paul is the next generation and so humble (like WBHickok45). I will watch them both. I hope to see PH's videos get the following WBHickok45 has.

Hey, say hello to us over on the 'say hello' thread, why doncha? Then we can welcome you properly instead of you snuckin' up on us like that.

I know this thread is old but I just started watching PH videos. I saw one where he said he was in the Persian Gulf..that was 90/91 aka 1st Gulf War..aka Desert Storm..now "Persian Gulf" could mean other things but thats how we used to say it. I love his vids..the one about Hyper Ammo really had me rethinking my "precious " ammo lol

Yeah the .32 ACP video jerked my chain too. Guess I won't carry that any more...

I was pleased about his stance on .22LR rifles for defense. He handled that subject just about perfectly. And his recent one on pandemic buyers is bound to be extremely helpful!

I'm glad Paul got rid of the muttonchops he was sporting in the earlier videos. ;)

Just pitched up to read this thread!!

Paul Harrell, well it's just about all been said, genuine, authentic, entertaining and NO BS!

I REALLY like his off topic videos where he discussed dress and deportment, historical hunting attire and patterns to name a few; but mostly it's his professionalism and experience when discussing firearms and ammunition.

All with a dry sense of humour.

You know, he could almost be ~~~~ British!!

Thanks for letting me join and add to the thread.

best wishes to you all.

Hey, not so fast! You just got here! Welcome to The Board.
Stick around, introduce yourself, and join in the fun! :)

WOW...I really LIKE this guys videos! Thank you for the intro
He's a bit more pedantic and soft-spoken than I'm used to, but I do like his vids- usually spot-on with his choices, and to the point in his testing... gotta love the "meat targets"... they do get the info across. This is the first I'd heard of his "shoot". Having been in one personally, I can feel for him.

I probably spend too much time sucking in YouTube videos - it's a lot of my internet time honestly watching fishing, cooking, bushcrafting, and firearms stuff - crap to keep me entertained when I'm not out actually fishing, shooting, camping, or cooking. I've more or less replaced television with YouTube, because the videos are shorter, the content tends to be fresher, and if I don't like something there's sixty million other choices, more or less.

Recently a guy I've never heard of before popped up in my feed - a guy named Paul Harrell. Dude has years worth of videos, yet I've never heard of him or seen his vids before. They seem pretty reasonable, and the guy is even from Oregon. Now there's a company name which pops up in a lot of his videos, that I've never heard of, Disaster Contingency Specialists - I can find no website or info about it. He also mentions being involved in more than one deadly force encounter - but my google - fu doesn't turn up any info, but that doesn't mean much - it could've all happened before the Internet was a big thing, and any public info on it may not be on the 'net.

The guy purports to have served a career in the US armed forces serving in both the Army and the Marine Corps. His gun handling skills are good, and he's either got access to a huge array or guns, or owns a huge array of guns, some really neat pieces of which make appearances.

So far there's no Tacticool Ninjitsu Ranger Operator type stuff - his content seems a lot more real world oriented. Like Hickock45, he has a passion for killing soda bottles, and has some ballistic testing videos using "meat targets" comprised of assorted foodstuffs - pork ribs usually, with some sort of watery fruits between them to simulate organ tissues and shows what bullets will do when punching through ribs/meat/simulated body.

Mr. Harrell's videos aren't polished as much as other semi-local Internet Gun Celebrities (PP aka YankeeMarshall, Ian Houston aka HossUSMC or Mark and Bill from Fire Mountain Outdoors) but the info does seem solid, and if nothing else, it's still entertaining.
Be careful he did one video where he showed how a handgun or rifle (can't recall) was more effective than a particular shotgun at destroying a cinder block. He did this by showing how many rounds to destroy the block. In the video one of the shotguns blasts he shot into the gravel next to the cinder block (i.e. he cheated) to show the other gun took less shots. And he mentions in other videos that some other YouTubers cheat in their shooting videos and don't trust them.

People that spend a lot of time on videos talking about how stupid their friends are compared to him, that is someone to be leery of. It's an ego thing that is thinly veiled. But watch what you want. He has some good info on some videos, just be careful what you "trust".

I will say he has freakishly good peripheral vision. He stares at camera while manipulating guns and ammo etc. unnerving and impressive both ha ha.
