I have about a grand to spend next month. This will be my final firearm purchase before the March deadline. Here is what I am looking at.

SKS with thumbhole stock that takes AK mags….about 600 dollars
AK47 for about 800 bucks. All forged with reinforced trunion. About 800 bucks.
Colt Commando knockoff by PSA with Dagger pistol and five mags for each…800 bucks
LE trade in Colt Patrol Carbine 600 bucks
Browning BAR 30-06 with Leupold scope. Belgian. 900 bucks

The last two may not be available by the time I have the cash, although Colt LE trade ins can be found for 600 to 800 bucks if one just looks.

Regardless of whatever I get above, I have one pistol on the way and will get another shotgun as well. That will be all I can do before March and I will need to buy a few more mags as well.

What happens in March? The IRS freezing your assets?

Out of the options, I'd go for the Colt.
That will be my most likely purchase if I can get it it. With my luck it won't be available, but I can probably find a similar one if it isn't. Nobody seems to want the plain Jane Colts as they are a little more expensive and not as tactical as some of the similarly priced options by other makers. But at least with the Colt, I know what to expect.

I did get a Colt AR15-A4 just before Thanksgiving. But I would like a shorter one as well, either an M4 or a Commando SBR or pistol.

Go with the BAR
Yes, that would be a bargain for sure. The wood has a few scratches, but at least I will be able to use it for its intended purpose without worrying about it. The scope alone is worth 300 bucks if I were to buy it new.

If I got that I could still get the Commando knock off by itself, relatively cheap in addition. I already have a plethora of mags for the AR. I have 10 more GI mags coming.

The BAR is one i dont have, I have a BLR in 270 and its a fine firearm.

If permit to purchase doesn't happen in March, I will add an S&W model 57 or 29 to my collection. If the browning works out, I will have to drive for it.

Which do you like better?
The 57-1......the 29 came to me as a 6 inch nickle gun that was peeling on the cylinder, im not a 6 inch fan. But it was 300$.....so I bought it and had mccluskeys put a 4 inch on it and go threw it, they added a new finish. I have not shot it yet but it looks and feels great!
