Yah, they are fun, and if you remember to eject upside down not likely to get any brass jammed.
But in general, As the "best kind" question asked, notwithstanding easier barrel and cylinder cleaning, just viewing the large spectrum of available calibers, not offered in break open style, the flip cylinder out wins.
At least in my mind.

Well start a discussion, whats the best kind of revolver?

Single action for my preferences. Probably my most accurate pistol (I mean without red dot or shoulder stabilized) shooting offhand is an 1858 Remington. Long heavy barrel. Fine sights and light trigger.

I'm partial to S&W and having used all frame sizes in several calibers I've settled on a 696 as the most useful for myself.
I think I could get used to a Freedom Arms for general kicking around in the woods though.

There are three perfect designs… The Ruger Bisley, the SW DA (no HH), and the original Colt Python. Anything else is bigger, smaller, cheaper, or stupid looking (ahem Rhino).

Couldn't agree more. It would be great to see a modern, double-action top-break, in say .38 Special or .45 ACP. Nice grips. Adjustable sights. Something in the 5—6" barrel zone. Would be neato to me anyway.
