FWIW:
I was recently given a bunch of .50 cal ammo cans that (loaded with ammo) were in a garage fire.
Plastic shotshells just disintegrated without any detonation.
One can that held boxed .38 Specials had some detonate. There were big dents in the end of the can where they struck, but did not penetrate.
Surprisingly, much of the remaining 38 ammo shot just fine.

I wish they hadn't wasted so much ammo. Kinda hard to come by these days.
