nah. I value my family, and I'm okay with keeping a tiny circle of friends. That said, we are considering moving to a more 2A friendly State, but.... We also have to balance that with Deaf education opportunities for my daughter, as well as autism support for children for both of my kids. So far, it seems to be either Indiana or North Carolina. Texas doesn't seem great for autism support, Arizona is getting too pricey and turning blue apparently. Florida and Georgia is out as well, both for lack of autism support and the lack of good deaf education. Wyoming has nothing for deaf education, and also seems to be nothing for autism support. West Virginia is also out, no deaf education, no autism support, nothing to offer other than that MG bill..Have you checked Utah? not sure how they handle such things, but "The Church" is pretty good at running things properly. At least they were. I was a little stunned to see a pride flag flying with the American and State of Utah Flag on The City & County Building in SLC.nah. Not much in way of deaf education unfortunately. Decent autism support programs but.... Most seem run by the LDS churches.Have you checked Utah? not sure how they handle such things, but "The Church" is pretty good at running things properly. At least they were. I'd avoid NC. Anywhere near the coast they get hurricanes fairly regularly. I went thru all that when we lived in SE VA. Hurricane season is a pain in the a$$. The western part of the state is supposed to be nice, and very scenic. I have a couple friends who settled there after retirement and they had nothing but good things to say about it. But they got hit pretty hard even in that area a few years ago, didn't they? I wonder how the recovery is going. Last I heard they weren't getting much help.So far, it seems to be either Indiana or North Carolina.
The two deaf schools in North Carolina are about 3 hours apart, and in the western half of the State. I've worked at MCAS Cherry Point in Havelock, NC, about 20 or so minutes from Atlantic Beach City; and left to go back to school right when the hurricane season hit.I'd avoid NC. One thing western OR has going for it is the benign climate. Extreme weather events are comparatively rare. For me that's an important factor.
Also, people who try to wedge in front of me (edit, from a turn from a crossing intersection, or an on-ramp), when there's abundant empty space behind me for three lanesLately, POS impatient drivers who tail gate, drive excessively slow for no good reason, and most recently try to butt in and merge despite me clearly seeing the blind spot indicators lit up on the mirrors of the s**t stain's vehicle. Luckily I had enough room to back off to avoid a side swipe.
I do a good amount of driving in the Metro area, up into WA and to the Oregon coast. I always figured that the very WORST drivers are the ones with the "Baby on Board" and "Student Driver, Please Be Patient" stickers on their cars. And the ones that complain about always being tail-gated. Maybe that's because I GO when the light turns green. And I go a safe speed always. Even when I'm not going the speed limit. Very seldom do I get tailgated. And on those rare occasions the guy/gal is diving considerably over the limit.Lately, POS impatient drivers who tail gate, drive excessively slow for no good reason, and most recently try to butt in and merge despite me clearly seeing the blind spot indicators lit up on the mirrors of the s**t stain's vehicle. Life is a series of tradeoffsStates where weather is awesome, only risks being wildfires, few other things, tend to be occupied by anti2A majorities![]()
As our friend from Fargo used to say, "Forty below keeps the riff-raff out."If I want boring, nothing to see, nothing to do, I'd be okay with the Dakotas other than the snow storms, high winds, and possibly tornadoes.
