So, sound like you'd be better of as LGBTQ-x-RV+/- ? All kinds of shizzz goin' on for those folks.
:s0064: nah. I value my family, and I'm okay with keeping a tiny circle of friends. That said, we are considering moving to a more 2A friendly State, but.... We also have to balance that with Deaf education opportunities for my daughter, as well as autism support for children for both of my kids. So far, it seems to be either Indiana or North Carolina. Texas doesn't seem great for autism support, Arizona is getting too pricey and turning blue apparently. Florida and Georgia is out as well, both for lack of autism support and the lack of good deaf education. Wyoming has nothing for deaf education, and also seems to be nothing for autism support. West Virginia is also out, no deaf education, no autism support, nothing to offer other than that MG bill..

Edit. Several "best" lists for either Deaf education or autism support, tend to have anti2A States in the top. Oregon ranks close to last for general education and middle of pack for childhood autism support, near the top for adulthood autism support (I used to work as DSP for adult special needs, not going back there, especially when I have children who needs similar support)

Have you checked Utah? not sure how they handle such things, but "The Church" is pretty good at running things properly. At least they were. I was a little stunned to see a pride flag flying with the American and State of Utah Flag on The City & County Building in SLC.

Not much in way of deaf education unfortunately. Decent autism support programs but.... Most seem run by the LDS churches.

I'd avoid NC. Anywhere near the coast they get hurricanes fairly regularly. I went thru all that when we lived in SE VA. Hurricane season is a pain in the a$$. The western part of the state is supposed to be nice, and very scenic. I have a couple friends who settled there after retirement and they had nothing but good things to say about it. But they got hit pretty hard even in that area a few years ago, didn't they? I wonder how the recovery is going. Last I heard they weren't getting much help.

One thing western OR has going for it is the benign climate. Extreme weather events are comparatively rare. For me that's an important factor.

The two deaf schools in North Carolina are about 3 hours apart, and in the western half of the State. I've worked at MCAS Cherry Point in Havelock, NC, about 20 or so minutes from Atlantic Beach City; and left to go back to school right when the hurricane season hit.

States where weather is awesome, only risks being wildfires, few other things, tend to be occupied by anti2A majorities :(

If I want boring, nothing to see, nothing to do, I'd be okay with the Dakotas other than the snow storms, high winds, and possibly tornadoes..but they also don't have much in way of deaf education or autism support programs...which makes sense when it's mostly just agriculture, mining and what little tourism there are (Black Hills and Mt Rushmore).

Lately, POS impatient drivers who tail gate, drive excessively slow for no good reason, and most recently try to butt in and merge despite me clearly seeing the blind spot indicators lit up on the mirrors of the s**t stain's vehicle. Luckily I had enough room to back off to avoid a side swipe.

Also, people who try to wedge in front of me (edit, from a turn from a crossing intersection, or an on-ramp), when there's abundant empty space behind me for three lanes

I do a good amount of driving in the Metro area, up into WA and to the Oregon coast. I always figured that the very WORST drivers are the ones with the "Baby on Board" and "Student Driver, Please Be Patient" stickers on their cars. And the ones that complain about always being tail-gated. Maybe that's because I GO when the light turns green. And I go a safe speed always. Even when I'm not going the speed limit. Very seldom do I get tailgated. And on those rare occasions the guy/gal is diving considerably over the limit.

Edit: ALWAY USE YOR TURN SIGNALS!!

Life is a series of tradeoffs

As our friend from Fargo used to say, "Forty below keeps the riff-raff out." :)

While I understand that a movie based on a book will not be the same as the book....
And it would be damn near impossible to include every event , character , idea , etc...
From the book and include them in the movie.

Removing events , characters and ideas....and then inserting in your own radically different notions....
Is wrong..as well as being a slap in the face to the author.
Not to forget to mention hurtful for those who enjoyed the book....as it was written.
Looking at you Peter Jackson and your Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit .

Also...
Movies that purport to be based on facts or true events.....but fall extremely short in the historically accurate department.
I understand that movies are entertainment...and not a documentary.
However ...Doing so...
As in failing short in the historically accurate department...
Does history , as well as whatever or whoever the subject matter is...An injustice .
Looking at you The Revenant .
