Really. If you are going to cultivate a highly invasive species on your lot at least you should be required to control its spread at the property line. Why should your neighbors who don't want it be required to expend the time/effort/expense to keep it off their property? Not saying you can't have it, but keep it off my place!

And that grinds your gears?

Ivy? Please. Some of y'all have never experienced the joys of Kudzu.

A "Weed" grinds the gears huh? Phhhtt! You can just hit it with round-up, or get your heavy duty string trimmer and hack it down. Or, like the Asian's do, make medicine with it. And goats love the stuff!! We got the homeless people that come and go were I live! Can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em. Doin' their drugs. Ranting and raving all night! Messin' with peoples cars. And they defecate/urinate, all over the place. And, when they DO, finally leave, all their piles of junk and rubbish are left where they were, with their bodily waste in the bushes, for someone else to clean up! $$$$

Not the goats! They don't discriminate. They'll eat anything and everything. The neighbors' goats got onto our property and were eating everything. The wifey was not happy. While eating, they eject pellets out the other end at an astounding rate. Still not as bad as having the homeless roaming around I suppose, but don't for a minute think goats are a good thing. :s0002:

Depends on the breed? Goat milk and cheese can be considered a delicacy, goat meat is decent when prepared well. There's a herd that gets hired out by cities and State for controlling poison oak in some parks, and usually they have to be fenced and the trees girded up against goats in order to not become literal deserts :s0140:

Maybe I'm ignorant of true goat nature? I know we love the Clackamas County Fair every year. We spend the majority of our time in the goat/sheep barn. Talking to the kids and families that raise them.

Goats are browsers in that they prefer to eat bush vegetation - they will eat almost any vegetation as high as they can reach on two legs over grazing ground vegetation (like grasses), but they will eat both.

My neighbor has both sheep and goats - you can really tell where the goats have been when you drive by the property; most everything has been stripped of growth to about human height. I wish they would pen some of their goats in an area where their property has Scotch Broom.

Cabrito!

That's 'baby goat' (for the uninitiated) and it's one of the best meats in the world!

Lamb for me comes in second, which isn't a criticism. I love the taste of lamb...almost...as much!

Vegans...perhaps back in your 'meat eating days', you've eaten one or the other?

I too love to eat veggies...along with a large portion of Cabrito or lamb!

So you eat kids? :s0064: kids being baby goats

Living up here in the great PNW, it's the drivers. I'm from Texas where the HOV lanes and the express lanes are for driving at least 15-20 mph over the speed limit. Here, drivers sometimes go slower than the speed limit. Then if you get behind them they don't move over. What is up with that? and yes, they are almost always in a Tesla or Subaru. :).

The druggies diving into the neighborhood recycling bin.
I WA it's against the law. Once you put the bin by the curb, it belongs to the recycling company.
It's the law! Look it up.

They won't eat the blackberry vines, but they will destroy the leaves!

We used to have a big blackberry patch in the back corner of the yard that had gotten out of hand. The wife wanted to "rent" some goats. You pay the lady, she brings her goats out til they eat everything, then she takes them away. Was gonna cost $400. I said, "F-it" and bought two goats for $200. (Spanish Heritage meat goats) Brought Leo and Buttermilk into the back yard and turned them loose. The wife and her sister chopped the vines and the goats did the rest. Gave them to a friend and even borrowed them back a couple of years later. They were really cool and personable, kind of like a dog. But they made the back yard smell like a barnyard in two weeks!

Gear grinder?
When I use an apostrophe that is unneeded. It makes me cringe when I read it from someone else, but if forkin drives me nutz when I do it...

The goats that visited our yard were focused more on my wife's flowering plants and small fruit trees. I ran them off, so I don't know if they would have eventually gotten to the blackberries. We don't have very many blackberries because I give them a dose of Crossbow every year, sometimes twice a year.

You answered your own question!
Pretentious entitlement follows the Tesla and Soobie drivers wherever he/she/it/them/they/ze/hir/xe/xem/xyr/whatever go...

Oh, and Prius drivers, too! Very snooty folks, them... 🧐
