Today, I loaded 50ct 9mm 147gr "blue bullets" over 3.2-3.4gr of IMR Target I bought from a member here. They look pretty cool and I'm looking forward to shooting and chrono'ing them. First time I've loaded blue bullets. I ordered them because they were reasonably priced and kinda neat for plinking.

Just 50 until I try them. And give me a break. I can only break away from wife/kids for long enough to do 50 rounds at a time. Even on my Lee Loadmaster progressive 5 station (which is pretty quick). ;)

Question: Do any of you reload blue bullets? What load data do you use? Their website just points you to Hodgdon (well, they misspell it Hodgon). I just copied Hodgdon's data for the 147gr Hornady XTP (which is a jacketed hollow point). The XTP data (with IMR Target) is 3.2 (840fps) to 3.5 (927fps) max. That's a pretty narrow range. All my drops are 3.2-3.3gr, so I'm 95% sure I'm safe and happy--but I thought I would ask if any of you have any experience with those blue bullets or such coatings. I'm just curious. No big deal.

Thanks, I've never heard of them. I would like to try some too.

Never shot polymer bullets. But I have shot lead and powder coated. They take less powder than jacketed and I have heard you are to treat polymer the same as lead.

@Holepuncher , you should. The quality seems solid. Coating seems very stable. Prices are good.
@gtivan as far as I know, they aren't polymer. I think they're just coated lead (a special "proprietary" coating, no doubt).
But I read somewhere it is NOT powdercoating.

A polymer base.
"Our coating is a proprietary polymer based liquid coating that we mix in house (not a powder coating.) The bullets are sized after the coating has cured to ensure a consistent and round bullet."

I think they will work more like a plated bullet. so somewhere between lead and jacketed. again, just based on research.

In my old line of work, we had a "rework" section. That was for stuff that wasn't done right the first time around.

Now I have my own rework operation. For the first time in over 40 years, I'm doing a full inventory of everything I've got. I've done this with reloading supplies for some time but quit doing it on finished ammo a long time ago. About the time I no longer had to worry about, "do I have enough?"

I've gone through all the .30-06, .308 Win/7.62mm NATO, and lately the .223 Rem./5.56mm. I've found a few instances where I don't now like my original loading. so I've taken them apart and reworked them. I've had a couple of equipment failures in the process. My Hornady collet bullet puller had the handle break. I sent an email to Hornady, they sent me a replacement on the house very quickly. Then today, I was using a Lee collet neck sizing die and the internal threads stripped out of that so I need to send that one in for replacement. I've never had to ask Hornady to fix something so I just tried email first, not knowing if they first had to have the broken widget back. Lee, I've plenty of experience of asking for replacements and I know the want the broken "thing" sent back before they will warranty replace it. RCBS, with small stuff it's a phone call or email. Bigger stuff, they want the part back so they can look at it.

In .30-06, I didn't find anything that I wanted to do over. in .308, I found about 130 to re-do. In .223, 141.

Along with the rework, I found time to knock out some .223 loaded with Inceptor SRR 35 gr. frangible bullets. Inceptor is the company that made the ARX ammo for Ruger a few years back. SRR = Short Range Rifle. Link to company information on this product:

Well if one can include reloading a bunch of receipts into their respected envelope that I've had in a big envelope in a disorganized mess for years then Yes I reloaded today...:p:p:p

I also organize my cleaned my ready to load brass so I know where it all is when I get time to load them up.

I think I've got enough to do for a little while, what do you think? And yes I do have the other components that go with them.:s0108:

Weather sucks this weekend and the power is out. Decided to fire up the human powered machinery and yesterday I put up 100 327 Federals with 85 grain XTPs. Today I set up for 44 Magnum with 240grain XTPs. Got 100 of those done :) Found out work is closed tomorrow so I'll put up another 100 44 Mags. My press is a Lyman All American 8. Not getting Dillon speed but when it's planned out correctly, I am much faster than the old Rock Chucker.

So because I've already posted my weird situation on this section, i figures an update was dueI have now replaced the bridge to my reloading station!!!!!

I also received a major upgrade in that department....granted I was responsible for installing it, but a small price for a much better gangway :D
