Suicides are a very big problem for us in the firearms community, but those that look at the stats and point fingers at us are shallow thinkers. There is not only an issue with suicides, but violence in society in general. Problem is, in that unicorn land with "Puff the Magic Dragon", if you take away firearms, there is will still be violent behavior. Just take a look at the film "Gangs of New York". Good Lord, those guys would go at each other with pikes and bats, pitchforks, anything they could get their hands on. It was bloody and personal. Don't think for a minute that violence will curtail just because of an absence of guns. Take a look at the two Muslims in London that decapitated the British soldier on the street in broad daylight. Violence is violence. Period.

Bummer; the boys get air rifles while the girl gets a 30-30

And we wonder why young men who see no future for themselves because of all of these conditions, and who are therefor resentful, jealous, and angry want to check out and take as many innocents with them as possible.
This is very true.
When someone's sense of self -worth is gone and they feel the only option is to harm themselves or others , then it is a health and social issue , not a gun issue.

One other thing we should not forget with these "executive actions / orders / memoranda". Anyone remember the Affordable Healthcare Act? You know, the one where the various government agencies are now privy to nearly all of your formerly confidential health records? You know, the precious "Patient / Physician confidentiality"? Your health care records, including mental health care records, are now open books. HIPPA laws have been effectively repealed without a single vote from Congress. They can "share" your most private information between agencies. DOH can now share records with the various LE agencies for background check information.
