During the Cold War the USAF used to (covertly) operate captured Migs in Nevada. I think they had Mig-15 through Mig-23. Hard to believe the public can buy a Mig-29 now.

I think you can pick up bulk kerosene cheaper than that.The MiG 15 burns about 5 gallons of fuel per minute. Local prices are about $5.50/gal. so about $27.50 per minute (or $1,650.00 per hour) for just the fuel. This gives you a good reason why they are so cheap to buy.

The DC-3 (C-47) uses 100 gallons per hour. About 1/3 as much as the MiG, and you can carry 7,500 pounds of cargo (or, if you have seats, 30 passengers) to offset the cost.How's that different from needing clear gas for that DC or Curtiss in your avatar?
