The article is wrong AFAIK. I'm fairly sure the NRA has nothing to do with these Firearms Freedom bills. They were first introduced by Gary Marbut in Montana, and they are basically symbolic gestures that are obviously not binding on the Feds and have no practical impact.

There was a lawsuit against the Feds at one point but Gary's website hasn't been updated for ages.
 
Colt is now making match grade carbines and rifles in Oregon so the could have a "Made in Oregon" stamp. With Novenske and Nosler and others Oregon would stand to save tax revenue by passing a bill like this one.

Lets get the Oregon legislature to put a bill like this on the table for this year.
