A few silly mistales in the description, but what the heck....There were positively NO Whitworth rifles of any kind issued in the period of the Crimean War which had been over for a year before the 1857 Whitworth trials took place.

Mr Bill Curtis, THE definitive writer and historian on the Crimean War and principal curator of the Royal Armouries in Leeds, UK writes of the issue firearms -

Like tac said , some information is faulty ... But the pictures ( alone ) in the first link make for an excellent study of Whitworth rifles.
The second link has loads of good information and some nice pictures as well.
