Hello all. I'm seeking advice from people on the internet again. I've got a S&W model 69 4" and a Ruger super Blackhawk 4.62" in my cart. I like them both but can only afford one. I understand that one is single action and one is double and single. I already have a super Redhawk 7.5" but would like a shorter barreled 44 mag. Any suggestions or comments about either. I'd be using 240-300gr factory loads with the occasional hotter underwood load but no +p loads.

Closest was a new model Ruger vaquero. Didn't shoot it but it was pretty short handled. Turned me off them immediately.

I wouldn't touch a model 69 with a 10 foot pole if you plan to shoot it regularly. That's a .357 frame having .44 Magnum put though it. Uncomfortable would be an understatement and short service life a guarantee. If you want a .44 smith, get a 629 or 29 with a shorter barrel. You want an N frame. So between those two, it's the super Blackhawk 8 days a week.

I usually check about every night along with my LGS and pawns shops. Haven't seen anything locally but it's definitely what I'd prefer to do.

Nobody likes the old square trigger guard.
The new model is easier to handle. And the Bisley grip frame seems to be the preference for anyone shooting a steady diet of full house magnum.

I shot a .45 Colt Bisley Blackhawk a few years ago and IF I were to ever own a single action revolver again it would BE a Bisley.

Major improvement over the standard 'plowshare' grip of mod 73 style revolver.

This. I am the opposite. I had a Blackhawk in .45 Colt and didn't enjoy shooting it at all. I've got two S&W 629's and love them.
