Back home yesterday, wife is sick but I feel fine… Must be swamp fever… :D

We brought home a lot of information that we have to glean through and make decisions on. Math hard for Caveman…. :p
In the past I've heard an old saying "it only takes money". Thanks FJB!!!:mad::mad:
Thought this might help with your math:

Unfortunately, I did not see a pounds of brass to number of cases equivalent calculator

Best of luck on your decisions...

Sorry for not updating this thread lately.

May 7th update

We arrived at an acceptable price with the daughter and son-in-law, we signed the papers. They said we didn't have to do any repairs/painting that we were planning to do before the sale but you'll be damn sure that I'll have the yard freshly mowed, trimmed and Mrs. Caveman will have this place spick and span clean before we leave.
Now for the bad part. The wife and I have been sick for almost a month with a URI, it's definitely kicked our asses and we are a month behind. We should have already had the shop cleaned out, moving sale completed, trash/recycle runs done and everything from the house that's already packed up, moved into the shop to see how big of a truck we need.

May 13 update.

Well the next chapter of this move is to head back down to the property to get a few more things done before the actual move.
I'll be flying solo this time since Mrs. Caveman decided to get a new carpet wetter 2 months ahead of schedule…. frust.gif frust.gif frust.gif

Will be down there the last week of May to get an area leveled and rocked before the 2) 20' 1 trip shipping containers are delivered on the 28th. My plan with these two are to place them 20' apart and later build a canopy over them for dry covered storage.
And start on an RV pad for our temporary abode once we do finally get there.
It's a damn good thing that we were a month ahead with packing the house because being sick for the last 4 weeks has put us a month behind.
Also will touch bases with the GC I've been talking with about a Barndominium for a while. The 1,500 sqf shell costs $60 per sqf to construct with a concrete floor. Then who knows how much it will cost to finish the inside. icon_eek.gif
I'm thinking this barndominium and stick built home prices are going to make my decision to say F it and going to look at Mobile Homes. Not what I want to do but I don't want any house payments for the rest of my life.
FJB!!!

I flew into PCB Fl this Sunday to get some more work done on the property before we can finally exit communist Wa at end of June. Had a contractor bring in some dirt and limerock to level out a 30x40' area for the 2) 20' 1-trip shipping containers (to house our worldly possessions) that are to be delivered the same day the well is to be started on Monday.

Also met with a barndominium builder and dropped off my sketches so he can give me a quote. I'm hoping the numbers are favorable because I don't want to have to get a mobile. But seeing as FJB has royally devastated the economy and my retirement.

Anyways, the moral of this story is that I found wildlife on my property that I hadn't known lived there before, I saw deer, possum and raccoon tracks the last trip. This time, Bob White Quail, fox squirrels and fox showed themselves this week on my neighbors trail cam that was watching the northeast corner where all the game trails mingle together.

Speaking of wildlife on your property, snakes - especially poisonous ones aren't something that most people come across here in the PNW. If you haven't seen one of these guys yet, you might take some time to learn the difference between the two. Coral snake vs Scarlet King Snake. One will most certainly ruin your weekend.

Just remember - red touches yellow, it will kill a fellow. Or you could just leave all of the damn things alone and not touch any of them. Lol.

Thanks for that but I grew up in the south and I know about all kinds of snakes in the region.

Plus, I traversed the entire boundary the other morning, every edge of the property has a minimum of 20' of thick deciduous tree/brush buffer and a few areas I didn't feel adventurous enough to explore… There were even more than enough spiderwebs that I walked right into and about killed myself getting away from them. :p

Well boys and girls it's been a long 8 days this week but it's starting to look like a certified Caveman compound.
It's definitely been a journey all in its own right with the delivery canceled yesterday and no one updated me until I got pissy. The driver was here by noon today, really nice guy he said it was his coworker that had wrecked the truck he was supposed to use. Can't say that I don't believe him or I do believe him.

Do you ever get amazed by people doing something that you had no idea how it could be done and look so easy? I had that experience today and I loved it.

It's a good thing that I did not buy vents or the weldable lockboxes because they came already installed.

OK, no palisade. So, I've already ordered an outfit for the housewarming...

Excellent choice of attire in case you are a wanderer. :s0155:
How high are you above the flood plain?

Are you building from containers, or are those just storage/Caveman's Caves?

Good looking lot, congrats!
About 8-10'… :s0140:
Storage till we get a dwelling then want to build a canopy over them for tractor and outdoor gear possibly a classic car… :s0168:
