The latest mass shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, perfectly illustrates the gun control fallacy.

Supporters of gun control want more laws, less guns and governmental protection. Yet all three of these supposed safeguards and feel-good measures failed miserably to protect so many innocent Texans.

Murderers are law breakers. They have no regard for human life and even less for the rule of law.

As with the vast majority of recent mass shootings, this killer chose a soft target, meaning a gun-free zone or location where armed opposition was unlikely.

One of the reasons these killings occurred was a failure of governmental control. It was well documented that this latest murderer was a violent criminal and one government agency, the U.S. Air Force, failed to notify another, the FBI, of the killer's criminal background.

Short, concise, right on point. Looks like the folks commenting on the story, largely, don't get it, which isn't the least bit surprising in a place like Portland and an (largely irrelevant anymore) anti-gun rag like the Oregonian.
