Something to consider here is...

What is dangerous to you...may not seem dangerous to someone else.
As in....
An older person , who is less mobile may need more time and distance...whereas someone younger and more fit might require less.
So 21 feet...sure...or 21 yards....can just as easily be a threat , depending on the person or situation.

In any event...
Avoidance...
Situational awareness...
Keeping a barrier between you and the threat or possible threat...
Something as simple as crossing the street....
Learning to read people and their body language....
Never assume....
All will be helpful.

After you shoot them, move a couple of steps closer. Shoot them again. Look around, if possible walk away.
Make sure you have enough gun, thinking about a way to conceal carry my contender (375jdj) !
