If you're looking to buy one, not just borrow one, you can pick up a 3' length of drill rod from McMaster-Carr for rather cheap, and easily make two or three rods out of it.

The only thing you will need to do is chop an inch or so off the ends where they were cut, as they're slightly out of round due to the shear. After that, I just rounded off both ends and polished them up the best I could. You should also check straightness or a piece of glass, or a known flat surface.

Please let me know if you'd like the part numbers, and I'll look back through my order history. Fwiw, I bought 4 different sizes of drill rod for less than one Guiselle rod. ;)
