If your life is in danger I think you're gunna be ok if you use a center fired rifle.

At that point I don't think it matters if it's a rifle or a "pistol." Unless I'm mistaken on your point.
I know his brother, Dutt-head. They're all about poaching under the guise of hunting.

Oh yea. I forgot where I am.
The land of make believe, where shooting animals with a rifle but no tag is ok because it identifies as a pistol so you can actually shoot anything you want any time you want but it's totally not poaching.

The new BAR has a 10 round mag. They were touting it for hunting and killed something in Idaho. Don't know about Idaho, but that gun, with that mag, is not legal in Oregon. No mention of a 5 round mag and the mag well makes it look like that could be a challenge.

The less rounds you have on tap, the more you pick your shots, I'd bet. The most I've ever had to shoot an animal was twice. Usually once. I think it adds more of a sporting element to it, because, you know... I can already hit them with the finger of god from hundreds of yards away. We humans already have every edge until it goes hands on.

Maybe I didn't explain it well…..

I possess all required tags. And follow the law. I even post about it publicly.

If you would like some education on game laws or resources to learn more, PM me directly. I'd be happy to help. It seems you could benefit.

The poaching accusation/inference is poor form. Actually pretty offensive.

Would you have the same problem if they used a contender instead of a bolt action AR, because thats the same story it's a rifle that identifies as a pistol.

My plan is to manually slam one round into a coyote/bear/cougar during deer and elk seasons when you are prohibited from hunting those animals with a centerfire rifle without the deer or elk tag for that unit during the concurrent season.

Other options I have exercised have been slug loaded shotguns and Thompson Contenders and big Smith revolvers. For me, this beats those.
This reads as if you plan on shooting animals out of season.
If so...then that is illegal....is that your intention here....?
Andy

Edit to add...
My concern / confusion here :
You are hunting deer or elk.....you come across a coyote /bear / cougar...
You are hunting deer / elk with a center fire rifle....
You want this AR type fire to shoot a coyote / bear / cougar because it it a considered a handgun ...and it is illegal to hunt those animals with a center fire rifle at this time. / point in the hunting season...

If I have that all correct...
My questions then are...
Is it legal to hunt / shoot those animals ( coyote . bear , cougar ) at that time( deer or elk season ) with a handgun...?
Are those animals ( coyote , bear , cougar ) still in season...?

Lord no!

The seasons are concurrent.

I think this is a curse of knowledge problem.

I forgot not everyone knows cougar season in Oregon runs 1/1 thru 12/31, there are no season dates on coyotes and fall bear runs 8/1 thru 12/31.

I don't violate game laws. I know, and follow them very, very well.

I forget not everyone is like me.

Some other things I don't do:

Call the cops if I hear someone bought an AR because they must be planning a mass shooting or think the reason people buy concealable handguns is to rob liquor stores.
